Guest guest
So I started my second phase 2 yesterday. I was so happy that I only gained 2 lbs from christmas and loading and lost it all on the first day. So from here on in I am losing new weight. I lost 15lbs the first phase 2, and am looking to lose 20lbs this time. that will put me at 299 which I havent been for over 3 years. I finally got my cortazone shot in my knee yesterday and woke up to no pain and no limp!!!! I know alot of people struggle with hunger on this diet and just wanted to offer a possible suggestion if you can have the support of your doctor. I was diagnosed with insulin resistance (syndrome X, pre-diabitis) about 5 years ago and was put on 1000mg of metformin. My doctor said that the main side effect was it took away hunger, by creating an underlying barely noticeable nausea. It really works. I know that my main issue is food as comfort and because of the meaning it has always had in my family and life. My family were foodies and wine collectors, my mother was one of those women that just about cooked her way through Childs cookbook in the 60's. Food ment cooking all day to have family dinners every night. Trying to loosen the grip of that in my life is extreemly hard, when that is what is thought of to be a good mother. Thinking of food as fuel, and non emotional is very hard for me. I wonder if I'm just on the other end on an extreem. But having the metformin as a tool for hunger has helped some because I now eat more by the clock then hunger. I also know that breaking down my eating into 2-3 hour blocks that must include protein keeps my insulin flatlined and not spikey. Spikey insulin causes hunger and cravings, low energy. One snack that I am using which is very helpful is turkey jerkey, one serving is 60cal, 0fat. I break one serving into little pieces, and can make that last for 1/2hour. Its filling. I am buying Trader Joes Turkey Jerkey. I have a dehydrator and am going to try to make my own. Kari
