sleep apnea?

Hi,

in the morning I need 2 or 3 hours to feel able to work, I have not

found out why this is so, though I have been trying for a long time.

Maybe this is because I suffer from sleep apnea, as many CMT-

patients do, and sleeping is not efficient.

Sleep apnea is a disease where one stops breathing while sleeping

many times in one hour. E.g. I stop breathing ca. 15 times per hour

for ca. 38 seconds in the average.

But the machine, that should ease the symptoms does not work on me.

It is called a triggered biBAP and works like a vacuum cleaner the

other way round, blowing air into the lungs while inspiration and

stopping to do so while expiration all that controlled by a sensor in

the machine. When a pause occurs it blows whithout inspiration

impulse. Helas, my lungs don't open then and the air runs out on both

sides of my nose, where the mask is fixed.

Has anybody else met such difficulties and can help me to manage them?

Is there anybody, who has sleep apnea?

,

I have sleep apnea and have been using a bipap for approximately 2

years. I believe there is a good chance I would not be around to

respond to this if I had not started using the machine. I did have

some problems finding a proper fitting mask but my biggest problem

was mentally adjusting to the need for breathing assistance.

Everyone is different but the mask I have had the best luck with is

called the " Ultra Mirage " by ResMed. You might see if you can get

one of these to see if it would work better for you. Sleep apnea is

a very serious condition and you need to keep trying until you find

something that works for you.

Good Luck.
