I'll be starting the program in about a week. I have a couple questions, though.

First of all, a person should drink half their body weight in ounces daily, when it comes to water intake. If a person has a lot to drink, will that cause any fluid retention, resulting in less weight loss?

Drinking water doesn't cause fluid retention. It's actually the opposite. NOT drinking enough water will cause fluid retention. In fact a symptom of low dehydration is fluid retention. The more you drink, the more you flush out of your system. Also keep in mind when your body is processing all of this fat you'll need the detox.

Secondly, I know it is important on the first two days (gorge days), to eat a lot of " good fat " foods. What are some ideas of the best foods to load up on? Anything loaded with fat! I ate a lot of fried food, vegan cheese products, baked goods, you name it.

And will it hurt to indulge in just a few " bad fat " foods, better known as junk food?

Nope, in fact you're supposed to!

Thirdly, does it matter when you start the diet, in relation to how close you are to beginning your menstrual cycle?I've heard that you should start after. I was too impatient and started about a week and a half before.

Also, I know there are no vitamins permitted on this diet.I take a multivitamin supplement anyhow, as I haven't heard this.

Is B-12 permitted? Too, are natural supplements OK to use? I have a family history of low thyroid problems. I have not been diagnosed with it, but I do have some difficulty losing weight. There is a " seaweed " called KELP, that I take in capsule form. It is good for anyone who may have thyroid problems, and needs to lose weight. I've been doing well with it. Is it OK if I continue this during the diet, since it is all natural?

If you absolutely need them I wouldn't stop taking them. Otherwise I'd discontinue.

Lastly, I read the posts on here where a lot of people talk about drinking the protein drinks. Is this needful on the diet?I do it because I am vegan and hence don't eat the meat, chicken, and fish that's recommended in the protocol. I use two kinds of raw vegan protein powder. One is Garden of Life and the other is Sun Warrior. On occasion I use veg meats but only if the calories range between 80-120, less than 3 grams fat, less than 1 gram of sugar, and less than 8 grams of carbs.

On the gorge days I eat bacon, loaded potatoes, sour cream, cream cheese, cream in my coffee, ice cream, avacado, pizza, cheese, chocolate, cottage cheese and yes bad fat foods but mostly the good fats.B-12 is actually good for you to take. Infact I use B-12 and Collidial Silver to mix my drops. I also take natural supplements and it hasn't affected me. I also have low thyroid and take meds for it. Thank you for the KELP info. Do you take meds for your thyroid also? Dr. Simeons tells us not to take any vitamins because there is enough stored in our fat but I think these days we aren't getting the same amount of vitamins in our foods like they did back then.

The protein drinks are if you are vegetarian. You would drink them inplace of the meat, chicken or fish. Otherwise I wouldn't recommend using them.

Camille,

I've not been diagnosed with the thyroid problem, therefore, I am not on any

meds; but both my parents have hypo-thyroid problems.

Concerning the kelp, it is HIGH in iodine. If you put in a search online for

using kelp and iodine for hypothyroidism, you can find plenty of information. My

sister-in-law is very health oriented (health nut- LOL), nothing wrong with that

at all. Anyway, she said even though the kelp says to take one or two per day

only, it won't hurt you to take more. What I take are 660mg per capsule. It says

to take one per day. I'm taking as much as 4-5 per day, and it's not bothering

me at all. I'm losing weight easily, I know that (and I've not even started the

HCG yet). I started first of July just leaving out most of the sweets(that's my

downfall), and leaving soft drinks alone, and drinking water like I've never

drank it before. Since July 1st, I've lost 12 lbs. I'm not getting a chance to

exercise a whole lot, either.

Perhaps the kelp is helping out more than I thought it would.

Another thing that helps people with this hypothyroidism health issue . . . you

know how you catch yourself humming a song you've heard? With this thyroid

problem, believe it or not, humming helps. It has to do with the vibration of

the thyroid gland. Go online and put in the search hypothyroidism and humming.

It's amazing to read.

You said you take other natural supplements. May I ask what you take?

From your starting point of the HCG, how much have you lost?

Thank you for the info on the kelp. I do take a med for the hypo-thyroid. Do you or your sister-in-law know if I can kelp with the med? I have a hard time losing weight because of the thyroid problem and would love to try the kelp.

The natural supplements I'm taking right now are: Magnesium, coral calcium, evening primrose & black cohosh (for hot flashes), turmeric (for joints), skin, hair and nails supplement and a supplement for my eyes because the doc says I'm a good candidate for some eye disease where I only end up with peripheral vision. Plus I take a multivitamin w/minerals and B-12.

The first time I did the hcg drops I followed Dr. Simeon's protocol to the tee and I lost 55 pounds and I stabilized great in phase 3. I kept it off until this past Oct 2010 when I gave in to my sweets addictions. I have gained back 35 pounds. I will be starting on the drops again this coming weekend. I hope I have learned my lesson and keep the weight off this time. I tried losing it about 6 months ago which I did lose the weight but I added in other foods that other people have been doing which weren't on Dr. Simeon's list and I didn't stabilize well at all hence gaining again. Dr. Simeon tested all kinds of foods and found that only the ones on his list will work for stabilization. When are you starting the hcg and are you doing drops or injections?

Hi Camille,

Did you get the email that I sent you yesterday?

When I wrote you back, I forgot to answer a question you had. I'll be taking the drops, and I thought I'd start it next week.

The only thing, though, is I think I'm fixing to start my monthly. So . . . .I don't know whether to wait or not.

  • 2 weeks later...

Hello,Well, I'm starting the HCG today. I have yet another question about it.I've read a number of posts about keeping the drops under the tongue for15- minutes? I thought you were required to keep it under the tongue fora minimum of 1- minute. Can someone tell me what the deal is with this, and what appears with some, to be the best time to hold it?I appreciate the input.
