+Dave,

You are in my thoughts and prayers, Hazel too. Sending Reiki and everything

else positive I've got to you both.

I don't know my Bible very well but the phrase 'This too shall pass', always

gives me a lift when I need it.

hugs, very gentle ones,

+Dave,

You've really been through the ringer . I guess the point of having

a Support Group is just that..'Support'..I do support you because I

know just how rotten things can get... I have two pieces of

information which may be of some limited value: Get as much sleep

as possible,,

Whatever it takes (Ambien, Simply Sleep, or just meditation)...In

addition I take 3 meds which have become invaluable: Sertraline HCL

(Zoloft) 100mg two daily ;Ativan (Lorazepam) 1mg 4-5 times daily

depending on need; and lastly my psychiatrist at VA (also a

Professor at Yale Univ)has added something which is unpronouncable

but seems to keep me from oscillating too much..Right about now with

all 11 or12 meds I seem to be relatively satisfied..I could go on

about the wonderful effects on reduction of soft tissue pain when on

these doses..I also take 50mg of elavil which helps with muscle

aches and pain as well.

Before I forget, the last Rx is Aripiprazole. One 15mg tab daily..

and also of some importance ,I'm 6'1 " 255lbs (a big load)...

Of course those doses which work perfectly for me may put you in

nearest hospital having cardiac arrest as they pump your

stomach...So i can't advise you , even if you wanted, which i'm sure

you don't..All I can tell you is that I've been on Sertraline and

Lorazepam for about 6 yrs and wouldn't give them up for

anything...Seriously I had no choice about this matter..One day I

flipped out sorta when I couldn't find lab that would take urine

sample I had been carrying around..Went back to Helen(VA PCP) and

had a mild verbal altercation..Seemed everything was upsetting me

back then..Anyhow, Helen sched appt next day with 2 Drs from

Outpatient psychiatry..That was it. They recomended Zoloft and

Ativan...The only time I get a little squirrely now is when I forget

them (and that happens very rarely)

By the way, I think you are doing a great job as moderater of

Reiter's List-Server Group..The numbers have really shown a dramatic

increase in past 18 mos or so...

Best Wishes, Jeff Lanneau

Thanks for the info for the foot ointment Harv. I guess we just have to

live with the drugs they give us. I do know that the family shrink

apologized for putting me on Prozac in the first place. They did not know

that it would take control the way it did. He was one of the clinical trial

doctors and they never expected the long term usage problems that we have.

I am getting a bit more settled down and started spring cleaning. Hazel

told me that the carpet cleaners were coming in but did not mention that

they were doing the computer area too. Mad dash yesterday morning to

dismantle the computer and home theatre set up and put everything well out

of the way. Right now the computer area is squeeky clean but I have to hook

everything back up again.

Took a bit of an unscheduled break today when I went to cut grass. Neither

electric mower would work and the gas mower is kaput. The electric mowers

we have had for 10 years and they were yard sale goodies when we first got

them. We needed some other odds and ends so it was off to Wal Mart to get a

new electric mower. I prefer the electric to gas because getting a gas one

started is a killer for me. It was a shop-a-thon. Great excuse to get away

from more spring cleaning.

Still working off the laptop until I get everything else put back together

again.

Blessings

Hi All,

I have been having the worse flare of IBS ever. It has been over a week of the

cramping, gas, rumbling tummy and runny stools. I have to run to the bathroom

about 5-6 times a day. I am managing to work but I am getting really worn out.

I have been eating a mild diet of Miso soup, rice, peeled apples, fish, well

cooked potatoes without the skin, saltine crackers, ginger and peppermint teas

and lots of water. I've tried Pepto Bismal, apple pectin capsules, peppermint

extract in warm water. My husband recommended a cork but I told him it would

just come out my ears.

Please, any recommendations?

in CA

P.S. My friend's five yr. old grandson had the stomach flu last week. When he

has his first attack of diarrhea he called out in amazement to his Grandma from

the bathroom, " Hey Grandma, my butt just thru up! "

Hi

Yes, I am feeling a bit better. Did over do the spring cleaning Monday and

Tuesday and I am paying for it tonight. Monday night I managed to break one

of my toes when I did not see Miss Silky laying where I was going and I

stepped on her tail. She howled and I stubbed my toes on the bottom shelf

of the coffee table. Neat green and blue coloured swollen toe this morning.

Just put on a tighter pair of shoes to keep it in alignment.

Mentally I am much better and I credit all the prayers from you folks on

RISG in playing a major part. Physically I am still in a flare and getting

busy did not help one bit. I did manage to cut the grass today after the

shop-a-thon. Most of the stuff bought was for the house and I get the

pleasure of putting all of it where it needs to be put.

Bought a bunch of those spiral flourescent light bulbs. I am gradually

replacing every light bulb in the house. Saw some home LED light bulbs,

they only use 1 or 2 watts of power compared to a 60 watt regular bulb. Was

tempted to pick a couple up but the price, twenty bucks each stopped me dead

on that.

We saved a few hundred dollars on our power bill by using the flourescent

light bulb replacements in major light usage areas. Now it is just the job

of replacing others as they burn out.

Blessings and thanks for all the prayers.

Hi Nicki,

I also suffer from terrible IBS. I have had it for

about six years now. My doctor put me on a drug called

Levibid to help control my bouts with runny stools. It

seems to work pretty well for me. May suggest it to

your doctor and see what they have to say about it.

Hope that information helps you and feel better soon.

Dear ,

Thanks, this is my worst bout of IBS ever. I'd had it before but it usually

resolves itself after a few days. I am going on 10 days. I've tried eating a

limited diet with little success so now I am down to only eating white rice,

applesauce, Miso soup with tofu and ginger tea. I am drinking a lot of water.

I just saw my MD before I got your message, so I will call her tomorrow and ask

about Levibid.

She is having me do one of those lovely stool sample tests and gave me a

powdered holistic product called Endefen. Hope it works.

Again thanks for your swift reply, . I have been feeling rather desperate

about this.

Love,

, I take Bentyl and Lomotil for bowel problems. These are prescription

drugs. Bentyl is good for IBS or any spasms or pain in intestines. Lomotil

is good for IBD and loose bowels. Hope you find something that helps. Everyone

is different, but I find I'm lactose intolerant (from milk products) and

many of us who have bowel problems have this problem. Just eating anything for

me, can cause my intestines to spasm. Even my morning coffee can set me off.

Before I go out, I take lomotil, as I never know when it will strike. I know

where every bathroom is located in our town! Many of the medicines we take for

Spondy have side effects of loose bowels or constipation. Herbs, can have

many side effects, too, so closely watch that area. Best regards, Connie

Dear ,

That is no problem, i know how frustrating it is to

feel so bad and not know what to do about it or how to

make your MD understand exactly how to help you. Like

i said the Levibid works really well for me. I have

had some pretty severe flareups myself, especially

since i had my gallbladder removed two years ago.

Changing my diet didnt seem to do a whole lot for me

in and of itself. I wish you luck and a speedy

recovery and look forward to hearing from you soon!

God Bless,

Love and Prayers,

,

I love the 5 year old, out of the mouths of babes.

My DR has my on Questron, an RX daily. It is a form of silica that

absobes the excess water, etc. I still have to stay on a low fat,

good fiber diet but it works. And I must be careful with when I take

my other meds so it doesn't interfere.

I ask, why take the fiber part of the potato off? Have you tried

adding a good fiber like the ones that have no taste Benefiber? I

know this works for some. I was helped so little by this but others

have success. It is over the counter.

Good luck,

Kay

I have been doing Phase 1. Doing pretty good. I have lost a few pounds...now the funny part. Everyone is waiting for their HCG....I on the other hand have gotten both of my shipments of HCG, but all of my supplies are taking forever. LOL.... So I hope they will be there tomorrow and I can start tomorrow night. I can't remember if anyone said anything about doing the injections in the morning or at night...do you know?travelingiris <RainbowNScooby2@...> wrote: I did a 60 day colon cleansing program through

Aw that's so awesome.

I took a break from phase 2 after 21 days 2 days before my period.

During my period, I ate normal...okay so I cheated during that time

and the weight came back on so fast. So beware after you go off

phase 2, if you don't follow phase 3 protocal, the weight does come

back on super fast...at a rate of 2lbs per day. I'm back on phase

2. I figure I have 20 more injections to do before my 40 limit is

up. After that I plan on being totally strict on phase 3 and doing

it again after 6 weeks. You phase 3'er's please keep us udated on

your progress.

Thanks,

Jai.

Yes it sure does. That is why you stay on the 500 cal

diet for 3 days after you stop the injections because

if it is in your system and you overeat you will gain.

I had to go out of town and twice I had to eat out

with customers and in 3 days I gained 6 pounds!!! I

went right back on the diet and I lost it in 4 days. I

am disappointed that I lost a week but I was able get

back on and lose. I hope Phase 3 works and would also

like to hear from those on phase 3.

Great to hear about your weight loss. Good luck!
