Guest guest
, I know that gabapentin/neurontin is used for pain management, but what I am looking for is the 'actual indication' use - I mean, to my knowledge, at least here in the US, it is still indicated as an antiepileptic; I realized it it also used for mood disorders and other conditions; guess what I am trying to find out is - IS Neurontin now indicated and used 'on label' for pain management? I kind of lost track of my Neurontin updates, as a former user of it for pain, I do personally know it helped my 'electrical shocking pain'. This was only maybe 2 years ago and at that time I knew I was using it " off label " . (and yes, I was in that lucky 1/3 of the people who it works for). If I recall, its patent was renewed, but only as an antiepileptic. Monday I think I will call the manufacturer and get updated. Thanks for sharing. ~ Gretchen
Guest guest
The Dr. put me on Neurotin which is commonly used for a antiepileptic medication and mood swings. I took one 100 mg tablet-slept for two days and became so " bitchy " that my family was ready to divorce me. I have been able to find no medicines that I can take that don't " do me in " !!! Guest guest
Hi .......I'm Pam from Georgia and I have been put on Neurontin for nerve pain. Many people with Fibromyalgia, which I have, use this med for pain. And it does work to some degree. My Reumy has up my dose to 600mg. 3 times a day. Yes, it does take some time getting use to......I find myself in a fog at times and I could go to sleep anytime of the day. ......I just have to fight the urge. I am kinda at that trial stage......something isn't right and I have right rib pain in the front and back and noone seems to know why. I'm borderline RA and my bone density test was a little low. Sometimes my legs give way and my bones hurt......that deep down hurt.....Well, I could go on and on.......but I'm tired. ............Pam ga News Flash: Pre-Implantation for Conception of Non-CMT Offspring: A type of artificial insemination is being done privately in Italy to avoid producing a CMT affected offspring. Simply, eggs are taken from a woman and united with a man's sperm to first obtain complete cells (zygote). Then the zygote is stimulated to divide 3 times to have 8 cells from each. One cell is removed and DNA is examined to search for the genetic mutation responsible for CMT in one of the parents (who must know what mutation they have). Then the mini-embryos without the mutation are implanted into the woman's uterus hoping that one will develop into a fetus. This method avoids the need of villocentesis at the end of the 3rd month to examine DNA and a late abortion. In Italy, the cost is equivalent to $6,000 U.S. dollars. We have also heard this is being done in Great Britain's public hospitals, but it is unclear if this is free of charge. Pre-implantation is also being done is Australia for the equivalent fee of $6,000 U.S. is Charcot Marie Tooth Universal Services - for you, your loved ones, the medical and scientific community, and anyone who wants to learn how CMT/HMSN affects each of us through experiential sharing.
