AFOs/Neurontin - for Joyce

I just got my first pair of AFOs last week. They are

unhinged hard plastic. They have been hot, but not

unbearable, considering it's been close to 90 degrees

with high humidity everyday since I got them. (We've had

an early summer heat wave in Wisconsin). Thank God for

air conditioning. I was told NOT to wear cotton socks,

so I've been wearing thin trouser socks that are a nylon

blend. My best advice after wearing them only 5 days is

to take off your AFOs and let your feet " breathe " for

awhile. Mine seem to cool down in a hurry. I will not

take Neurontin either - it gives me nausea. I never took

it long enough to notice a weight gain or constipation,

but who needs that? I'm much more mobile and comfortable

without carrying around extra weight. Hope you feel

better.
