Guest guest
It is my feet and their muscles that can get overused,as I can be on them too long. When that happens, I get off my feet and rest. Now, I am teaching the 1 lab class, plus still at the clinic. I have always been able to bike. For years rode a bike most days - doctors said could be theraputic. And I like it, so I still do it. I am also trying something new for me - a 'spinning' class at the Y. What I like about this is everyone goes at their own pace and it is good cardio workout too. I do that 2 times a week. If I didn't get exercise I would be nuts. It helps my mind relax, as well as the physical benefits. The exercise I do also helps keep my stress levels in check - another plus, as my job can involve many stressors. It also helps keep my weight stable. We are all different with our CMT development and needs when it comes to exercise. I check in with my doctor periodically to make sure what I am doing in life and with exercise is OK or if I need to adjust my program. I ride the bike and do spinning early in the mornings, when I am rested and fresh physically. Evenings I am usually tired; then do some simple Yoga stretches, and have some quiet time to myself. I use this time for meditative practice - which helps calm my mind and relax my body tensions built up from the day. JJ
