Guest guest
I was told by my Doctor and orthopaedic surgeon that these types of exercise boards can do a lot of damage to the feet and ankles especially the tendons. I had a couple of Physios try those things out in the early day and they did more damage than good. Aussie
Guest guest
, I'm sorry your experience with the balance board was not beneficial. Did you use it on land or in the water? Did you had warm up exercises before using it or did you jump on it first? Using it in the water makes the difference for me. I also had tendon surgery YEARS ago, so over the years with walking, sand-walking and wearing orthotics, doing aerobics, swimming, guess my tendons are fairly strong and have stayed that way. I had quite a bit of aquatics work under my belt before I even tried the balance board. Also, I started very slowly with it all. Like I said, the difference in 8 weeks is amazing - for the better - again, we are all different. All the people I have worked with have some sort of degree in Aquatics, or Sports Rehabilitation or the like plus their PT backgrounds. And they all are familiar with CMT. When I saw how well they got me in shape after back surgery, I asked for some balance work incorporated in that - like the salsa dancing in the pool for starters. My surgeon and internist have been amazed at my progress. The surgery has been amazingly successful, and recovery short! But as we know, we are all different, CMT or not, and what is good for one, may not be as beneficial for someone else. But working with aquatics professionals has made a tremendous difference for me! They are the best! I really look forward to our classes! ~ G
Guest guest
It was back in the days before I was diagnosed with CMT and it was on dry land and they wanted me to stand on them and also sit and use them and with my balance as bad as what it is I had no chance. I have had a lot of surgery on both my feet since and I am doing well now I spend a lot of time out fishing on our boat so get plenty of foot exercise we also do water physio during the winter which we find is good I visit my physio about every 3 weeks where he checks my status and gives me massages where I am having problems with muscle.
