Guest guest
Hi! I'm new here & just want to introduce myself. I've had sinus problems for years, but was diagnosed with Samter's very recently. I'll be having revision sinus surgery (1st surgery was 5 years ago)at the end of this month. I will be undergoing aspirin desensitivization post surgery. I hope to G-d it works because, as you people obviously know, suffering from Samter's diaese is a drag!! FYI: I'm from the NYC metro area & am now seeing a top ENT at NYC's Eye, Ear & Throat Infirmary, because my local ENT said he couldn't help me anymore & suggested my current doctor who takes on difficult patients such as me(I have a very small nose/sinuses which makes surgery much more difficult). Fun, eh? Anyway...Thanks for listening & Good Luck to both you & Liz! Alison Glass > Hello all, > > I've been lurking for a while now and thought I would say hello. Guest guest
, Good Luck! to you-- Hopefully your new ENT is an excellent surgeon. It's key for successful long term treatment. Also Desens shortly after surgery could change your life as it did mine. After aspirin, I wasn't cured; but I could think about my future instead of just surviving each day. Guest guest
Welcome ! I too have had a very hard time eating as much as we are supposed to. I have let my body dictate and that has worked for me. I don't like the sick feeling when I over eat. I am wishing you the very best with this. PLEASE don't get discouraged if you hit a plateau or the melting off of pounds slows at times. Just stay positive and be happy. We are all here for each other and this truly does work. Any questions I had, the answers were right here! I'm currently at 217 and want to get down to at least 130. I'm very excited to get started. Guest guest
, Hurry up and go pig out now. I'm serious, you need to gorge to succeed. See Simeon's protocol in the files to your left. Go out to eat, its easier in restaurants with all the high calorie food and you won't have it tempting you in the house when you're on the 500 cals . If you don't eat enough you're going to be hungry and not lose as well. I ate at Cheese Cake Factory, Fried food at snack shack, McD's chocolate shake, cannoli's pizza, popcorn, and Dairy Queen's breezes which are 500cals for large ones. I know its hard and you will gain but, you'll lose it in a few days and you won't be hungry for the next week. Otherwise you will be very hungry. So happy gorging! Guest guest
Hi , ) http://www.areclinic.org/articles.asp?articleid=71 Above is a link to a wonderful article on hair loss from the A.R.E. Clinic. I have used the Crudoleum Treatment Program it mentions with very positive results. My hair became thicker and the small amount of gray I had disappeared. The other changes I implemented where to take Atomidine and to convert to an alkaline diet as much as possible and use the Crudoleum Treatment Program. I found to eat fresh asparagus was a great way to alkalize my body. In the book, Alkalize or Die by Dr. Theodore A. Baroody on page 47, fresh asparagus is listed as the highest alkaline-forming vegetable. I have found a wonderful, delicious, easy way to prepare fresh asparagus. I just wash the fresh asparagus and break it into pieces and put the pieces in a plastic bag with a little olive oil and shake. This coats the asparagus with olive oil and then I dump the asparagus out onto a Pyrex baking sheet, season with salt and pepper, and bake 12 minutes at 400 degrees F (or until tender). I find this delicious, quick, easy and very alkalizing. *smile* Blessings, Peggy Newbie Dear All, I am 54 years old and fast loosing my hair to unknown reasons. Guest guest
Hi all...I'm new around here. I have been chatting with on the hypo board and she had some good advice for me. So here I am. Hypo and trying to up my iodine to the recommended 50 mgs. This is particularly important to me due to a history of breast cancer. Yesterday upped my iodine to 25 mg. and did the salt loading protocol. Wow... was right. I have big time bromide issues. I had a ton of detox symptoms that lasted the entire day. So this AM, only took 1.5 Iodoral, along with the salt protocol. Am hoping to continue the bromide detox while gradually upping the iodine. My question is....will I detox faster if I up the iodine faster? Thanks for any thoughts on this. BarbFVote for your city's best dining and nightlife. City's Best 2008. Guest guest
Hi ....Six Iodoral a day or salt loading 6x a day? Once I reach 50 mgs and don't go hypo, then do I stop the salt protocol or is that a forever thing? Thanks so much for all you info. You are really helping me out here. Guest guest
Yes Barb you will detox faster the higher the iodine but you also want to have some quality of life along the way. For me it generally takes 4-6 weeks to make it through a detox. In that time I support my liver with a product from Metagenics (ultra clear plus pH), lemon in my water (organic), drink lots of water, up my vitamin C to 3,000 - 4,000 mgs, salt, salt, salt and try to avoid processed foods which are hard on your already overworked body. You will have to do what you are comfortable. Dr. Brownstein had me do a 6 day on and 7 day off protocol for a while. That helped me get through it by giving my body one day off. Guest guest
Steph, do you find that even if you're on the same dosage for awhile, you will start detoxing again? I've been taking 50 mg since December and I have had various detox problems. They seemed to have tapered off, but then this week I had to take 2 days off because of detox problems. Guest guest
Hi Barb, and welcome to the list...Whether you will detox faster if you " up the iodine " faster, I don´t know, but my guess is that our bodies have their own natural rhythm, and in order for us to " tune in " to this healthy natural rhythm it is better to " slow down " rather than to do things faster...see: . > > Hi all...I'm new around here..... Guest guest
Yes that is what happened to me. I was on 50 mgs from March 2006 to October 2007. No issues. after the first 5 mos or so. Then I decided after the last iodine conference to push the envelope and go to 100 mgs. Literally all hell broke loose in my body. You can see in the archives where I had an issue and documented it. That went on for another 5 or 6 weeks and then it all leveled out. But it was truly worse than anything I had on 50 mgs or even for the 2 mos I did 75 mgs. My urine got cloudy, I was constipated, brain fog, mood swings, hormonal change (for the better as I am on a lower BHrt dose now too). I had acne as well. But I pushed through it and feel a lot better and have less ups and downs now. Guest guest
Thanks, ! I liked that. I've decided to gradually get up to the 50 mgs. by alternating half dose with full dose days. I'm already feeling better from just this little bit more iodine. Yesterday I only added 1/2 a tab so the bromide detox wasn't as bad as the day before. This stuff really is fascinating to me. Guest guest
Thanks, Barb.... I am really paying attention since starting Iodoral again (25mg) after not taking any for about a month. I started in January, working up to 50mg, and just didn't pay attention to symptoms and attributed them to other new things in my protocol. After taking time off, then starting again, I can really tell the difference. I do hope and pray the detox symptoms don't last too much longer ~ they are very unpleasant! But ~ just knowing what they are makes them that much easier to withstand. I checked out the bromide-detox symptoms list on breastcancerchoices.org and I've got quite a few. Question: I am currently increasing my Armour dosage 1/4 grain per week, which was going really well. I could feel the emotional "up" with a new increase. Then I started back on the Iodoral, and I'm having the dark and depressing thoughts. It's a rollercoaster ~ if the dark/depressing thoughts are really bromide and not lack of T4/T3, how do I know when to stop increasing? I held at 3 grains for 10 days, then just had to increase to 3-1/4 grains. I felt great for two days, and now BAM ~ dark thoughts, brain fog, etc. Oy. One more question on dose timing: I wonder if taking my full dose right at bedtime wouldn't alleviate the detox symptoms during the day. If the iodine works within say, the first 8-10 hours, then the ickyness could be while I'm sleeping and better upon waking. Anyone tried this? Any reason not to take at night? thanks, ~ -----Original Message-----From: iodine [mailto:iodine ]On Behalf Of Bbircie@...Sent: Monday, June 16, 2008 9:11 AMiodine Subject: Re: Newbie Hi ...my symptoms included huge brain fog, frequent diarrhea, jittery -- couldn't relax, blurry vision and an off and on headache. Guest guest
Use your basal body temps to determine thyroid hormone needs. Make sure you are getting enough salt and Vit C as you continue with the iodine. Guest guest
Hi Carol I had my surgery with Dr. Montgomery October 13, 2005. I have lost almost 140 lbs and have gone from using a walker due to weight related injury to being a jock of sorts. I have lost almost as much as I weight now.  Best wishes for you in your journey. I'll be having a lapband done at NorthWest Weight loss surgery. I have an appoinment with the surgeon end of September, so it will be interesting to see what happens. I don't have a surgery date yet. I am hoping to get it done before Xmas. Is there anybody else out there who've had surgery at NWWL? I would love to hear from you and learn about your experience. Cheers, Carol
