I'm frustrated by the conflicts between the blood type diet and the genotype

diet, but I'm working on combining the two in my own way.

There is also a genotype group

Genotype_Diet/.

It has been very quiet, but you might generate some activity by asking

questions. But this group works too. A number of us are in both groups..

thanks.. cant hurt to join both groups. I'll do that. [?] I was

thinking of making an appointment with Dr. D so I can discuss the conflicts

as well... from what I understand (and correct me if I'm wrong) the GenoType

diet is a fine tuning of the O diet so it would make sense to defer to the

GenoType diet although it's so much more restricting it could make one

nuts..

I'm not a caffeine addict but sometimes I like a cup of decaf coffee. I was

looking on line for some " herbal coffee " substitutes and most of them are

wheat based (a no-no for us Os). I did find one that was not wheat based..

I'm wondering if anyone here has tried Teeccino Caffeine-Free Herbal

I hope some of the other newbies see your health results and are incouraged.

As for as your weight goes,'

*minimal carbs* -- get your proteins, fats and non-starchys

*drink water* -- try 4 oz every hour throught out the day

Hi Kathy, thanks for the warm welcome! I drink water and herbal tea all day

long so yes, that's a biggie! As for carbs-I really eat minimal carbs for

sure already.. I'm hoping that further correcting the damage done while I

had active insulin resistance will take place and help me to shed these

extra pounds.

Has anyone taken the Deflect supplement?

I've taken Deflect. I found it helpful when I ate something I shouldn't have.

But rather than buy Deflect, I try to just not eat those things.

Newbie

Greetings all! I have been doing Dr. D's " diet " for a few weeks now

although I've known about it for many years. I was diagnosed with insulin

resistance and polycystic ovary syndrome (PCOS) about 12 years ago and after

going on glucophage (850mg THREE times per day) I decided that medication

was not the way to go. In changing my diet and exercising more regularly my

system is back in sync and I do not have any symptoms of PCOS and the last

check up I had showed no diabetes from the original Insulin Resistance

diagnosis (check up was several years ago).

Although my body seems to be back in some order, my weight never was. I

have lost and gained several times in the 12 years but never kept it off.

In speaking with my chiropractor/somatic expert, Dr. Mark Filippi, he

recommended that I do a combo of Dr D's diet and giving my body a break from

the intense exercise I had been doing for years now (weight training/cardio

with a personal trainer 5 or 6 times per week). My body tightened up a bit

but I was still visibly fat, wearing about the same size clothing, and was

about the same weight. I realize that more muscle=leaner body and the scale

doesnt matter as much but no one with a 5'4 frame feels comfortable carrying

what I do. I am doing this diet to repair the years of damage I have

apparently done on a cellular level with my crapola food choices.

Even though I had already limited gluten & dairy, and eliminated sugar,

artificial sweetner, and all soda for 6 years now, I can not shake the

weight. Mark's son was greatly helped by Dr. D and he is actually good

enough friends with him that he got him to appear on our radio show a few

years ago (internet radio show I am not part of anymore) and it's taken me

quite a while to LISTEN to what he said although I always felt it made

excellent sense...

So I started easing into the diet on Nov 13th and felt less bloated in about

2 days. When I weighed myself on Nov 24th I had lost 2 lbs already.

Again, for me this is first and foremost about health and secondarily about

weight...I want to feel more comfortable in my own body and with this extra

weight I'm just not comfortable. To give you an idea of the amount I need

to lose in order to not be clinically overweight anymore, I'd say 40 to 50

lbs.

And you are getting some fats. Olive oil, mainly?

Don't skimp especially in the winter.

Kathy, not sure if I could go much less with my carbs but I can sure give

it a shot. I get 95% of my carbs from veggies and lower glycemic fruits

*heavy on the veggies, lighter on the fruits). I'm still at work (ugh long

day) and I'm having a typical dinner (to give you an example). I'm having a

piece of grilled chicken, grilled veggies and broccoli rabe (LOVE that

stuff!)

I definetly have olive oil daily. It's my favorite oil for sure. I made a

really nice salad dressing last night with olive oil, pecorino romano, dash

of salt, garlic and onion powder. It really hit the spot! I actually use

cold pressed organic olive oil as a facial moisturizer as well. It works

great and doesn't clog pores.

For lunch I made the most delish escarole and cannelini bean soup-boy that

was good...

I've asked my pal Mark to talk to Dr. D on Monday (he has an appt for his

son) regarding the BT vs GT diet and how confusing it can be for those who

have read both books. If Mark remembers to ask Dr D I'll be sure to let you

know what he says. He's not likely to remember but stranger things have

Kathy, I was working out with a personal trainer 6 days per week (she is a

friend so I didn't have to pay...thankfully). She fit me in between her

other clients. In the year and a half I did that, I firmed up a bit but

really didn't lose a pound on the scale. It was frustrating! Now along

with the proper diet I am walking. My homeopath/chiropractor doesnt want me

lifting weights for 3 to 4 months while my body recovers with ER4YT diet...

then I can add it back in. I am walking daily and doing yoga. I can't wait

to get back into the weights. I really love that.

No not at all. Detoxified Iodine is a VERY low mg dose (usually 150 mcg) "electrified" iodine. It will not work for full body saturation. It helps some with health issues but it has not been tested to be effective in combating high halide levels such as bromide.

Lugol's is Iodine & Iodide. In a 5% solution you will receive 6.25 mgs / drop.

I know the feeling, I don't do well in new groups so the only suggestion I have

is to just be yourself and accept who you are in your 'space.' Caring too much

about what others think is a road to be 'less' traveled. We cannot accurately

imagine what others may think of us, and from experience, we are usually very

wrong. When things are embraced as something that is all about us, we do

ourselves a great disservice and others also. People often think of us more

positively than we might percieve. I understand fat prejudice so the nervousness

is understandable, BUT you have sisters and brothers at weight loss meetings

that are not one's who are usually judgemental people, we understand and we are

kind because we don't want others to be treated like we were treated. You

certainly should find very kind & friendly people, so being yourself is much

easier than being who you think you should be because you never know about

'shoulds.' Take care and embrace the

experience, I think when you're ready to go home you will probably be so glad

you attended because you will have met some new, perhaps life-long forever

friends...Take care and enjoy....

Hello Chris

Thank you for your welcome. I was already on HC and Armour when I

visited Dr Hs clinic but I saw one of his doctors as he is lecturing

now but has trained doctors up I believe.

I take Nature-throid 2 and half grains at the moment and 10mc of

HC. I am still quite ill and although I have had a lift now I am

back on HC I am still in a great deal of pain and also have another

cold. I get one infection after another. My fatigue is chronic. I

have managed to put some washing on the line this morning and I

almost collapsed after doing that small job.

My last bloods showed TSH 1.09 T4 14.4 and T3 4.5 and this was

considered to be quite remarkeable on 50mc of levothyroxine although

I was in a wheelchair and struggling to cope.

I cling onto the fact that things will get better because to suffer

wityh such ill health for nearly twelve years and poor health before

that takes some rising above.

Three of my siblings are all hypothyroid but for them their bloods

allowed the endo's to treat them immediately and they are fine on

Levothoxine.

Do you have thyroid labs for the hypo diagnosis? What dose of thyroid medication are you taking? The patch test is not considered a valid test for iodine saturation or deficiency. The patch test also would not be responsible for any hypo symptoms you had today. Are you being treated by a doc with a protocol for increasing meds to start? My MD is a specialist in Thyroid and also a naturopath. He totally subscribes to

natural thyroid hormone therapy, proper supplementation, exercise and nutrition.

He seems like a bright person. I've started with erfa thyroid and following the

STTM (stopthethyroidmadness.com) protocol. I read the doc on the email. It

doesn't actually say we can drink Lugol's but it alludes to that... so I assume

I can. I've got more tests coming like the antibodies etc. I have horrible

symptoms of hypo and somedays can barely get around. I must have 90% of all the

symptoms I can find online for being hypo. But until recently my primary MD told

me my TSH was fine.... and then I found STTM site and went and found a " good

Convictus... not sure what your name is...

But from looking over at the Adrenal group, your tests show

low cortisol in the noon, evening, and the night time! Low cortisol

means that you are adrenal fatigued and I have been reading how you

need to work on Adrenal Health along side of Thyroid health or it

will not be optimal in its function. They go together... I know I

am hypothyroid and now waiting for tests on my cortisol.

Also, if your iron is low, you cannot use the thyroid hormones as

well either and can still feel hypo. I was recommended to use maybe

2 or 3 capsules of the 27 mg of iron. Since taking the iodoral-

lower dosage, the supplements for iodine, and adding supplements for

adrenals I am starting to feel a bit different. But I need my tests

to know exactly what I need to do for my adrenals.

Yes, Lugol's can be taken orally. The TPO antibody result is included here, negative for Hashi's. Your TSH is good for someone not on thyroid meds. Was this test prior to starting the thyroid meds? Was there a Free T4 included by chance? The Free T3 is low. Were the first test results listed for adrenal results? It is not labeled. What dose of thyroid meds are you taking? Yes all these results are from the month before I started Erfa. The Saliva test

is indeed cortisol. My MD at the time would not run the anti thyroglobulin or T4

because he said there was no need as my TSH was fine....my TSH swings between

1.1 and 2.8 Also pls note the ranges look funny and are metric I think, as I'm

Yes regarding the adrenal complications but since my temperatures were

consistent and stable before I began NTH, (always at 98.2 per Dr Rind graph)and

I didn't exibit any of the low cortisol symptoms except for muscle/joint pain.

suggested that I try NTH first, keep monitoring my temps and see what

happens. I've been on NTH now for 9 days and my temps are still stable. So maybe

it'll work. My symptoms all feel a little different now but I still have a lot

of pain. The good news is I'm sleeping much better, I can actually sleep 7hrs

straight thru now which I haven't done in over 10 years. My vision seems better

too. Thanks for your input. Cheers
