Guest guest
Hi, my name is Theo, I’m 28 years old and I come from Greece. I have been a member of this group for 2 years now. I have had CMT since the age of 4. I have foot drop, balance problems and muscle atrophy in my hands. I had surgery at the age of 13 in my legs in order to improve my gait. At the moment I am doing a Ph.D. in law in the UK. At the same time I am teaching undergraduate law students. I think the group is doing a great job to inform its members about new research on possible treatments of CMT. As I was surfing the internet I myself came across information on a new drug currently tested on patients with peripheral neuropathy who have undergone chemotherapy. So, I thought, why not share it with the group. I ‘m not a doctor so do not know whether this could be relevant to CMT. Perhaps the doctors in the group could give an opinion. The drug is said to stimulate nerve regeneration in adult rats and is now in Phase II clinical trials. The drug is also said to be tested on patients with spinal cord injury.
