Frustrated!

Oh, ! I wish you lived closer. I'd have you bring that baby over

here so I could watch him while you go to work! Does your children's

hospital have a " day care " for sick kids? A lot of pediatric hospitals do.

It's worth a check. Also, I'd get him back to the ENT as soon as possible.

We're praying for you both.

I'm so sorry you're going through such a terrible time. My heart

can feel your grief and pain. I hope Drew feels better soon. You

definitely need to get to the ENT ASAP. I wonder if there is

something you can give him to stop the sores in his mouth. That in

addition to his tonsillectomy must be horrible. Best wishes for a

speedier recovery for Drew. Hang in there!!!

Machell,

Trying to remember... Your child was fevering for less than a year when you

received your diagnosis? Is that correct?

I am wondering... since the fevers started so late in childhood... what type

of testing did Jordan go through?? Has he had all the genetic studies? Have

they ruled out other disorders that mimic ?

Did you try Cimetidine first? I remember you tried Prednisone once.... But I

do not recall the extent of testing nor do I remember if you did 5-6 months

of Cimetidine?

Just pondering thoughts here because I am noticing so many parents are

starting to jump into a surgical procedure and getting poor results....

without trying the conservative approaches... and without ruling out OTHER

disorders...

Fran, Yes, Jordan began having fevers every month last fall. The Infectuous

Disease Dr. we see doesn't really use Tagamet as a first line treatment. I

guess he hasn't seen a lot of success with it. We have tried the Prednisone

and it knocks his symptoms. I had to have my tonsils out as an adult and it was

very rough and that was another reason we decided to go ahead and give it a

try. It was hard for him though as he had just had his appendix out in January

and a broken arm from a soccer game in May. He was just starting to reagain

momentum and was back to his old self in sports and life in general when this

last episode struck. The Dr. has mentioned the possibility of genetic testing

if Jordan doesn't respond like a patient. So far his symptoms are

pretty -like. He has always been plagued with cancre sores so it was hard

to

relate them to his cycles, but this time they were present and worse than

normal. His main complaint when he is sick is of the mouth sores, sore throat,

headache, and it hurts to walk. As soon as it runs it's course he is bouncing

off the walls and raring to go. My husband is from Iran and I don't know if

you have many Persians with or not. That would be one reason to test for

FMH, but he really doesn't seem to have those type of complaints. We will

keep you posted on Jordan's progress. I am hoping maybe with completion of

puberty, the symptoms will go away. Machell Nematollahi

Yes, he did have an inflammed appendix. I am a nurse at the hospital where

he had the surgery and one of the Drs. pulled up his pathology report and it

did show inflammation. I wondered the same thing later, after the

diagnosis was made and that prompted me to check.

No, Jordan hasn't had any genetic testing done because our ID Dr. feels that

he fits the description of . He didn't even have the fevers until last

October. It will be so great one day when they discover the cause as it is

such a mysterious illness. Machell Nematollahi

Just a thought,.,.. was his appendix removed necessarily... so many kids with

FMF have stomach pain similar to appendicitis and when pathology comes back its

not !

Tracey,

Similar things have happened to me and in my case (last time) it was the new receptionist/secretaries fault. Sometimes it's the pharmacy's fault, I agree it is annoying and unacceptable. Is there anyway you could have called a doc on call and gotten them to call in a scrip? If your pharmacy isn't open 24/7 you should go to one that is!!

i know what you are going through. we had troubles like that with a pharmacy that was handling my sons meds so i switched to a new one. hope things change for you and you can get the med soon. evelynTracey White <tracey.white@...> wrote: This morning I called my doctor's office to get a refill on my Vicodin. I totally understand your frustration.

I went 3 weeks with out my medicine only due to once walgreens got it in their system, they couldn't transfer it to another city only cause it was percocet.

Oh My I can't believe that.actually i am surprised they could fax that med(glad you are able for them to do that, and ship it)or call it in since it is a controlled substance isnt' it???

though am surprised that my ativan can be called in too so..

Mine i have to pick up the precription and then turn it in. I don't even think it can be mailed. Have to ahve someone pick it up.

I guess by the sound of it you have no back up?

will be praying you feel well and that these get cleared up sooner for you

Well, Vicodin is always my " med of last resort. " I only take it if neither Ibuprofen and Benadryl Allergy/Sinus headache are ineffective and/or I'm dealing with more than just the usual headache (like if my costochondritis is flaring up or I have a UTI that is causing kidney pain). Unfortunately, Ibuprofen hasn't helped the headaches the last few days, and if I take any kind of Benadryl (regular, allergy/sinus, etc.) too often I get tics in my arms.

I DID finally get the medication today, thank heavens. I suddenly developed a full-blown kidney infection last night, complete with 102.5 fever, chills, kidney pain, the works. Plus it started raining this afternoon and still has not stopped (as I mentioned last night, my headaches are mostly caused by bad weather), and the forecast says it could rain all weekend. I'm treating the UTI itself with essential oils and stepping up my bladder care regimen, but unfortunately it will be a day or two before the kidney pain stops, and the only thing that helps that is the Vicodin. Sorry for rambling; needed to vent/destress, I guess.

I started the HCG injections on 4/17, loaded properly for the 2 days and started

with the 500 calories on the 3rd day. I am only eating the foods on the Pounds

and Inches book but admit 2 of the days for dinner because I was out with family

and friends I cheated and had sweets and fatty foods ( which by the way the

fatty food made me gastrointestinal sick!) I started off at 191 lbs and after my

3rd day I was down 10lbs to 180 now I am on my 7 th day and have gained
