Guest guest
I attended the expo when it was in town at the Ft. Lauderdale convention center. MDA had a booth as well. It was a little bit disappointing. There were many vendors including canine partners. They had several models for wheel chairs, and different conversion trailers. I was expecting more. I had hoped for more presentations and workshops, instead of a flea market approach. There were very little educational based assistive technology. I would have liked to have seen that, for example the Alpha 3000, or CCC, or the enlarged key boards, and slant boards, enlarged mice for control. All of these devices would have been beneficial for us. I got to test a lot of these devices out in Orlando last month at Family C.A.F.E. C.A.F.E. is an arcronym for collaborative, advocacy, family, education. This is a convention that has been held for the last three years. It is the largest family convention in the country. This was my first time in attendance. I was required to attend as I was one of the presenters with my organization. F.A.A.S.T. had some excellent technology, I wish they would have attended the Abilities EXPO,talking boards etc.
