Guest guest
I recently posted about the doctor who performed my 1977 scoliosis surgery and how he 'vanished' from the hospital a couple weeks/month prior to my appointment. I've done searches for him before with no luck, but today I see that he is still practicing as an orthopedic surgeon. He had graduated as an MD in Wisconsin & completed his residency at the hospital where my surgery was done in NC. It looks like he began practicing 7 yrs prior to my surgery. He is not a scoliosis specialist-just an orthopedic surgeon. The site I was on wanted me to pay a fee for further information. Do any of you know of free sites to research the competency, complaints, etc of physicians? Since he's the guy who was inside my back with power tools, I'm interested if there have been any formal complaints. Also, his leaving the hospital in the manner he did with no doc to 'cover' his patients is weird. He's 64 years old now & my surgery was 31 years ago this May, but since he saw me for such a long time & I had such an extensive medical history prior, I know he'd remember me. Other than just remembering, after seeing thousands of patients over the years, what is the likelihood that he'd have any memories of my case that would be helpful to me? I feel like I'm hanging out in space with no doc that knows the extensive surgeries I've been thru. I know there's no 'doctoring' he can do to help me, but do you think I should try to contact him for informational purposes? I know it sounds crazy. Maybe if he's still doing scoli surg he'd discuss the improvements with me-although I've done plenty of research myself & know how much the surgery has changed. So-anybody know any sites that might help me without me dishing out dough? All I have is the flour & water kind... ~Moonbeam
Guest guest
I'd ask the billing dept. at the hospital if his privliges were revoked. If so, do they know anywhere he's practicing because you can't trace him down. From what you've described; doesn't sound too good. He may be in semi-retirement. He may have changed " practices " or forms of specialization. We had a psychologist cross-train as a " fellow " to become a Peditrition/Neonatalogist. If the hosp. won't work with ya; see if they can refer you to a local branch of the AMA. Good luck! *HUGS* Cyn in East TN moonbeamblessings <moonbeamblessings@...> wrote: I recently posted about the doctor who performed my 1977 scoliosis surgery and how he 'vanished' from the hospital a couple weeks/month prior to my appointment. Guest guest
If he's still in NC, you can try locating him at http://www.docboard.org/nc/ . If he's practicing in another state, just try http://www.docboard.org/ ... most, but not ALL states are on there. The good part about the Texas (where I reside) Board of Medical Examiners, is they will state in the search results whether or not disciplinary actions have been filed. If so, you can request a detailed report - and receive it in a day or so. I'd also suggest you search Civil Records in the state ... there's a chance you can catch a trail from a malpractice suit or other public records. Oh! ... And don't forget the county appraisal districts ;-). Regards, Pam Cyn Hatmaker <cyn_hatmaker@...> wrote: I'd ask the billing dept. at the hospital if his privliges were revoked. Guest guest
Oops .. just noticed they now have a beta search engine that looks across all states in the database: http://www.docboard.org/docfinder.html Regards, Pam Cyn Hatmaker <cyn_hatmaker@...> wrote: I'd ask the billing dept. at the hospital if his privliges were revoked.
