Guest guest
How many of you have pain that shoots down your leg when you stand for any amount of time? I've had it for a long time but it's gotten so much worse. When it got bad the last time I had to go in for surgery #3 to releave a pinched nerve from some of the hardware. I can't go back to the doctor now because I don't have insurance until sometime next year since going through a divorce. I'm on a waiting list to have the state pay my premiums. I'm hoping that it's just pain that will always be from time to time. I'm used to that. Thank God for pain medication. Thanks so much, Dereise..... Guest guest
Yes, that's your siatic nerve. Three trips to the chiropractor and it was all gone and has never returned.
Guest guest
I had pain that shot down the back of my legs, deminishing the further down it went. It was awful. It happened more often than I think, my scoli MD told me, but I had a high tolerance to pain, I wasn't noticing it. But, TWICE I SURE DID! Later, I learned I had/have CMT, a peripheral nerve disease. Guest guest
Hello Dereise, My bet is that it's sciatica. I've had it and it's no picnic. To this day, I still have pain in my legs that just won't go away completely. It's more of an ache now. It kind of radiates down the leg. Now, full blown sciatica, you'll know you have it because you may be yelling " just cut my leg off " like I was. It's terrible pain. But like I said, since having sciatica, this annoying achiness just won't go away. > > From: Dereise <dereise1958@...> > Subject: Problems with pain > Scoliosis Treatment > Date: Monday, December 8, 2008, 2:21 AM > > > > > > > How many of you have pain that shoots down your leg when you stand for > any amount of time? Guest guest
Hey , great to hear from you. Pain is bothering me because I joined a little women's choir and we are going to sing for the Christmas service this Sunday and with all the practicing and climbing the stairs, I've had a lot of pain. I'll have to double up on the pain medicine Sunday. For the most part I have the lower back pain and the shooting pain down my left leg. I was supposed to have had that " fixed " during the 3rd surgery. Hope you are doing well . I'll write you an email soon. Love ya, Dereise.......... > > From: Dereise <dereise1958@...> > Subject: Problems with pain > Scoliosis Treatment > Date: Monday, December 8, 2008, 2:21 AM > > > > > > > How many of you have pain that shoots down your leg when you stand for > any amount of time? Guest guest
Thanks so much for your sweet reply. I've just come to the conclusion after years and years of this that just go with it. I had pain before the fist surgery in 1996 and still have pain. One day thought I won't be in any pain and all this 4 lbs. of metal will be left in the ground. I hope you feel better soon. This time of year when most people are running around so much pain hits harder. You take care and thanks again for your post. Guest guest
Hi Dereise, I'm with you when you said you have to just go with it. What else can we do? I like how you said that one day we won't have to worry about this pain...one day we will be healed. This time of year is so much harder with pain. I LOVE winter and hate summer but the cold doesn't like me. This morning I woke up and could hardly move so I took my Darvocet and Naprosyn and now I'm okay. I don't like to take them unless I can't take the pain. Of course, while I'm in pain I sit there and cry and feel sorry for myself and ask how I can possibly live with this pain for the rest of my life. How stupid, I know because now I'm okay and it will be fine. I truly know that but we all have our moments. And this time of year is so hard because even though it's Christmastime and people SHOULD be nicer, they're not in the stores, they just push and push until they get what they want. I try to avoid stores this time of year. I hope you feel better very soon. I hope everyone on this list feels better. We are all in this together! > > Thanks so much for your sweet reply.
