Guest guest
Hi, I was referring to Charcot Marie Tooth Disease, (named after 3 men around 1860 who discovered it in France and England, all at about the same time).  CMT is a disorder of the peripheral nervous system, a cross between MS and ALS, but not often fatal. More info can be found at the CMTA and the MDA websites.  Some of the symptoms of CMT are scoliosis (27% of CMTers have scoli), burning, swollen feet that often have 'pins and needles,' deep foot itch (not on the surface), heat & cold sensation disturbances in the feet, and, maybe the lower legs. There is foot and lower leg weakness, muscle atrophy in the feet, ankles, and in front (both sides of the tibia) and back (the calves) of the legs. There are more symptoms. EVERYBODY is different. That is why it is so terribly difficult to diagnose. For instance, in my case, I have had asthma all my life (which lead to COPD) and all this time, I learn two years ago, it's a symptom of CMT2h, the type I have.  It is unlikely that you have CMT, but it's worth looking into, because it is progressive, there is no treatment and no cure, but damage to the muscles can be avoided somewhat and nerve pain medication is often prescribed.  Lj From: KnightonND@... <KnightonND@...> Subject: Re: Burning feet & scolio Scoliosis Treatment Date: Thursday, December 31, 2009, 8:13 AM  Someone mentioned that a feeling of burning feet could indicate a problem and I am wondering what that could be? Guest guest
I have that almost all the time. I believe it's due to muscle weakness. I'm not positive, but it makes sense. I mostly hurt on the side where my curve went in, which was the side that had weaker muscles. ________________________________ From: monica thornton <monica_thornton2003@...> Scoliosis Treatment Sent: Thu, December 31, 2009 10:55:57 AM Subject: Re: Burning feet & scolio  i would like to ask what it means when one side of your rib cage hurts relating to scolosis. thanks monica ____________ _________ _________ __ From: " KnightonNDaol (DOT) com " <KnightonNDaol (DOT) com> Scoliosis Treatment Sent: Thu, December 31, 2009 6:13:44 AM Subject: Re: Burning feet & scolio  Someone mentioned that a feeling of burning feet could indicate a problem and I am wondering what that could be? Guest guest
Atleast for me, this isn't because of Scoilosis, but rather because of complications from Detethering Surgeries, nerve damage. I have Tethered Cord as well.........not everybody with Scoliosis has that.
