Guest guest
, I do know that each Presidential administration appoints a Director for the Office of Disabilities. I was more knowledgeable about who's who when I helped with NAOTD. The guy who was the Director in the last administration, Young (I think that was his name) now heads a private disability rights group in DC. I have never heard if the current Administration appointed someone new or that is empty right now. Unfortunately, it may not be thought of as a priority at this time (meaning a priority to the administration - it IS a priority to US!) Whether or not anyone who either works in the Office of Disabilities has a handicap is an interesting question. Wow. What a great job - I'd move to DC for it! I used to receive 's disability list emails from the WH and he really worked hard for people with disabilities. Only now no WH emails from the Disability Office so I am just guessing the job is vacant/or non-existent. If disabled people wrote their Congrespersons, or called, and we had a big, hot campaign going, maybe we'd get noticed, and maybe the ADA would be better enforced. 12 years since ADA - there has been change, positive change, but very slow. ~G > Now I used to think the ADA was our own disabled rights groups.
