Guest guest
Hi Everyone, Yesterday I went back to work at school. I was busy moving desks and chairs plus bending down etc..... and I came home last night with a new symptom. On the soles of my feet I had pins and needles. Of course every now and then I might get that but it lasted all night long. It was really annoying I couldn't feel my feet touching the floor. Do you think I was putting to much strain on my back. I was fused for two curves in 1976 don't know the L or T spot but it was 65 and 45 curves before surgery. I have been having burning searing pain in my outer left thigh and lower back at night. But the pins and needles was a new sensation last night. I do have an appt with Spine Specialist Dr. Rudolph Taddanino on October 10th. Any feedback would be great Ellen

Guest guest
Ellen, Burning pain is often nerve related and can be treated by neurontin sucessfully, but should be first studied by an expert to see if it's signal that your scoliosis has worsened or the fusion has not occurred at some level. Was the floor you were standing on a cement pad? What shoes were you wearing that day? Neuropathy (nerve pain) can extend to the feet or you may be developing Plantar Fasciitis from an ungiving surface and non-supportive footwear. If you have an med-high arch is there anything in your shoe to support it? I developed it wearing slippers on a driveway setting up for a garage sale. After a specialists accessed my feet I found resting my feet to rest on a frozen juice bottle (2 qts) helps a lot. Wearing better shoes and less unnecessary slab standing helps too. Note where your feet point during sleep on your back. If flat- straight out pointing to the walls P.F.. is a real possibility. If straight up to the ceiling, you are in a healthy position. One of the treatments is to wear a boot/cast like that prevents your ankle from letting your foot drop flat. Awkward, but it helps. Ice is easier whenever you are sitting. At first it stings a bit, then it numbs the pain. Not a doctor, just a complex patient. Jolene Morell
