Guest guest
Hi I am Becky and I am new on here. I have Scoliosis and have had it since I was at least 14. I am in my late 40's. I have a double curve, 2 Luque rods, wires, one graft and the fusion over 3/4 on my spine. Right now I have severe stenosis and need a A-Lif. I am absolutely scared to death. They want to do the Lamenectomy, cut me ope from the abdomen and the spine, slear out the stenosis, cut the rods off, add more rods and fuse the lower spine making my spine completely fused. Has this happened to any of you? I wonder if I could go to that Laser Institute in Tampa or Bonati near Tampa and have a laser procedure tha tis not nearly as invasive. Any advice woul dbe great. I am really scared.
Guest guest
Hi Becky, Back in Sept 07, I had spinal stensis surgery and fusion of T2 to L5. Within two to three weeks after the surgery, the pain in my legs caused by the spinal stenosis was much releaved. It took me probably 8 years to find the right doctor as my condition deteriorated to the point that I wore a TENS machine and needed meds for pain daily all day. I was able to find a couple of people who had surgery by this same doctor and I was eager to have the surgery done. Now, although I am still in a backbrace for a couple more months, I am pretty much painfree. If your symptoms do not match, the amount of surgery they want to do on you you could always get a second opinion. I had 10 prior surgeries on various joints and a one-level fusion of a cervical disk prior to the big fusion. I was never rushed into any of these surgies; mostly the doctor would say you know where to find me when you need me. Good luck, Beverly from Aurora, Oh. > > Hi I am Becky and I am new on here.
