Guest guest
Hello Philippa and welcome. Regarding your question - this is how I handle it. It just so happens I've faced the same thing with family and friends. Friends and my side of the family don't question our decision of not-vaccing anymore because they know I've done the research and have read on vaccines for years - and know that I wouldn't do anything one way or the other without giving it serious thought and weighing the benefits vs. the risk - especially with our children. For those that want to talk about it - it all depends on why. If they want to know because they're questioning the decision for their children or themselves, I'll gladly talk to them on our decision and why we chose to not vaccinate. If they want to know why we don't because they think we're " irresponsible " - it's none of their freaking business - and it is left at that. Welcome to the group. Guest guest
, Yes she is born, she is eight months old and we are hoping to get her sometime this summer. The sooner the better! We have three biological children: Jarika (rhymes with a)15, 8 (has Asperger’s Syndrome) and Avery 6. I am so excited about this little addition! She is precious! She has had a lot of medical issues but I think that the only one that I am concerned with is her double colostomy right now. I just want to be sure I care for her well! She has had pulmonary hypertension as well but I think this is okay now. She is still on a feeding tube but is cleared to eat but is just pulling the stubborn Down syndrome thing! I will release more information when I know it and keep everyone informed about when we get her! Cammie Re: intro Hi Cammie, Welcome. My son , 8, is also adopted with DS. He rocks! Guest guest
Cammie, we love our speech pathologist, and I can't wait to tell her your news! Our speech pathologist also works extensively with children with Ds, and I can see her doing just this sort of thing as well. Having the opportunity to know a child with Ds (granted my own), I would certainly choose to adopt one as well. He is full of mischief, but such a delight. He has brought love and joy into my life beyond belief, but definitey keeps me on my toes. I bet you know all about it. And how lucky for your new daughter that her mom is a speech pathologist!!
