Hello everyone! I have a question...has anyone with Hep-C noticed a problem

with itchy skin? Or little bumps that look like insects bites and itch like

hell? I've tried just about every ointment, skin cream, lotion and treatment

possible and nothing helps...my doc's NP says it's just really sensitive skin

and suggests a different cream than all the ones I've already tried....any

ideas, or comments?

Thanks, Connie

Hi Connie,

My hubby has a horrible time with the itching.

Unfortunately, it's part of the disease, but there IS

something that you can do about it. Pat's doctor gave

him an RX for a decongestant called TAVIST-D - in a

prescription dosage. Also, he uses Monistat Cream on

the areas that itch (usually his legs). I know that

probably sounds strange, but it's the only cream that

he can get that has 3% hydrocortisone. The others

only have 1%. He says that it really does help - more

than anything else he has tried, and believe me, he

has tried anything he could get his hands on. Last

fall the itching was so bad that he even dug at his

legs in his sleep. It got so bad that he got an

infection in his chin that went into the bone. He

ended up in the hospital for three days getting IV

antibiotics. He's doing much better now, on the two

medications that I mentioned. Check with your doctor

to see if they might work for you. (You can get the

Monistat over the counter.) I hope this helps.

Hi Connie,

My husband has had a huge problem with itching for the last 2 1/2 yrs. It is

better now than it was but he always seem to have some. After taking his

bath he always stands under a cold shower. He said as uncomfortable as this

is it helps, he also uses Eucerin cream and says this helps somewhat. Oh,

and the only soap that doesn't aggravate the problem is Ivory. ( almost

forgot, he also doesn't towel dry completely because that seemed to

aggravate it also.)
