Curves (exercise in general)

Hey and all -

It is below zero here in northern Minnesota, with wind chill warnings. I had

to bring my car in for repair and walk home from there. Curves was on the

way home, so I stopped in to work out (and warm up!).

Today I had the most amazing conversations with two women there. One has

severe arthritis, and after quitting smoking she gained 80 pounds. She then

joined Curves and ended up going off anti-depressants, a blood pressure

medication, AND lost those 80 pounds.

The second woman had back surgery and had to crawl out of bed due to pain

for many years. She joined Curves and although she initially had to crawl

out of bed for awhile, she got stronger and within a month most of her pain

and stiffness were gone. She continues to get out of bed 'like a normal

person' as she said, and only need 1/2 the pain medication she needed

previously, not to mention losing 48 pounds.

Now, I realize that committing to any good exercise program can provide the

similar results (we have to do what works for us), but it's amazing what

ATTITUDE and ACTIVITY can do for a person. Many people can't work out, or

even walk for exercise, but getting out there and doing something...

'tri'-ing with a little 'umph' ..... seems to be such a positve move, and

a move that can be life changing.

I'm going through a very low CMT symptom phase. In fact, with the right

shoes I am walking 2 miles a few times a week, along with Curves 2 -3

times weekly. Anyway, I'm just loving it, and I am so thankful for these

breaks, these opportunities to strengthen my body for the many years ahead

(I'm 44 so there better be many years to come).

Thank you to everyone for your great inspirations.

Happy New Year,

Danita
