First off, thanks for the discussion on butter. I learned a lot and hope to

make a tastier batch next time.

I was curious what people think about iron supplements. I'm four months

pregnant and haven't taken any because i feel fine. I don't eat raw meat but

i eat lots of other NT type stuff as well as nettle, which is high in iron.

But i also eat crap from time to time so i'm not so pure...yet!

I'm just a little nervous and curious since it is a mantra these days that

all pregnant women should take iron. The last few days i felt a little tired

and started to worry (i also ate some white pasta at a lunch party to which

i reacted very strongly).

If i do take iron, can anyone recommend a good supplement? I'm assuming

Standard Process makes a good one.

Thanks for your help,

Elaine

Elaine,

You would HAVE to establish first whether you are deficient in iron before

taking ANY supplements pregnant or not!!!...

ideally even a multivitamin supplement should not contain iron as it is very

dangerous even in small excess amounts. see the links below....

have a serum ferritin test to see if your iron stores are depleted. that test is

a much better and more accurate indicator of the body's iron status than the

test for haemoglobin levels.

sometimes just increasing vit C from natural sources in the diet will aid the

absorption of iron and that shouldn't be a problem if you stick to a good NT

regime.

Have the blood test first.

Good luck with the pregnancy,

Dedy

I started taking the iron just to hopefully improve my energy level. I am NOT

anemic. I haven't taken

iron since my mgb almost 3 years ago and all is well with my blood work.

Anywhoo.....I was down 2 of those 3 lbs. this morning. I was eating some fat at

each meal, steak, fries,

ribs, corn on the cob w/butter. My thought was that it would get things moving.

I guess I'll give it more time and report back! Thanks for all your responses.

I'd love to hear if anyone

else is taking the Xenical.
