wheat germ oil

Hi Jen,

My wife and I have just started on Special Process wheat germ oil. We

take one capsule with each meal. It is supposed to be a good source of

vitamin E. I found out that it pays to shop over the internet. One

source listed the product at $15.95 and another $6! We are hoping to

fight " free radicals " (my wife smokes), assist immune functions and help

with cardiovascular health.

Wheat germ oil is the richest natural source of vitamin E that I know of,

but it's also highly polyunsaturated, and polyunsaturated fat depletes

vitamin E stores. A better source of vitamin E is unrefined palm oil. It's

also rich in carotenoids and tocotrienols (a component of vitamin E not

found in significant quantities in most foods), and about 50% saturated.
