Guest guest
Hi all, I finally made the sauerkraut recipe in Sally's book using kefir whey. It didn't all fit in a quart jar, guess I must have had a big cabbage. I happened to have a 1.5 liter jar with a rubber ring seal. That is what I used, though now that I have gone back through and read other peoples experiences with sauerkraut and kefir whey. There really isn't a way to loosen this kind of seal, can I get away with opening it a little to release pressure each day? Any other suggestions? I'm looking forward to trying again with my Mom's organic cabbages instead of whatever comes from the grocery store. I just hope her cabbages are smaller! She also had a bumper crop of squashes. Any idea what to do with them? I don't actually own Sally's book. I just borrowed it though interlibrary loan. Three weeks was just not enough time with it! That's what I would do - and have done with my beet kvass that is in a jar with a tight lid. > Any other suggestions? > > I'm looking forward to trying again with my Mom's organic cabbages > instead of whatever comes from the grocery store. I'm not quite sure how to describe it. I don't know what they are called. Ghislaine
