Bill Moyer's program on Chemicals and Kids

For those of you who may have missed the Bill Moyer's program

last night there was an interesting web site mentioned. It is

www.scorecard.org. Here you can see how much, and what kind of

environmental pollution, is affecting the area where you live. This

gives you the information you need to help speak intelligently about

what is happening in your own back yard.

How to clear the body of toxins was not mentioned except by reducing

the pollution. I don't recall food souces of toxins being mentioned

other than pesticides on fruits and vegetables. They did say fruits

and vegetables should be scrubed before eating.

They also said there is no where on earth breast milk does not

contain some sort of polluting chemicals, but added human breast milk

is still the best for a human infant. The idea of all breast milk

containing some pollution, made me wonder how some of the few

remaining primative tribes of the world are faring in this area. It

would be interesting to test the breast milk of these peoples.

I was encouraged to see more studies being done in the area of the

damage done by pollution. Scientific proof is often necessary where

common sense should do. This is the nature of fighting large

polluting industries.

Sadly, the program concluded our government personel is more

interested in politics, getting re-elected with the financial support

of big business, than it is in the welfare of children. I was not

surprised. It is going to take a long time and a lot of effort to get

the environment cleaner. Fortunately there are many determined people

who are working toward the resolution of this huge problem.

I would love to see someone with an understanding of Dr.Price's work

take the top position in our government over seeing children's

welfare. The position has been empty for months. Any takers among you?

----->when i first learned about this site last year, i checked it and was

apalled at the amount of serious polluters in my area. I also learned that

I'm sandwiched between two superfund cites :-( Although i think both have

been cleaned up by now.
