Guest guest
Thanks, Dr. Mike, for responding. I like your suggestions. I have forwarded your response along with the others. (Thanks Kat, and Kris.) I'll keep my eye out for any other suggestions/posts to forward to her. Dr. Mike, as far as the low carb " causing " her porphyria, I agree with you, it probably didn't cause it. I realize now that my post wasn't clear on that. The porphryia was probably already there or building up to where it got, but the low carb diet evidently aggravated it. (Unfortunately, to the point of nerve damage! She said it took a while before they gave her a diagnosis, so she didn't know to change her diet. She feels that had she known sooner, she may have been able to avoid the nerve damage. Hopefully, the nerve damage is reversible?) I found this very interesting and very helpful to know to remind me be cautious of the one-size-fits-all diet. I guess for relatively healthy people it's okay, but if we're already sick then evidently, not until recovered. I forwarded your whole post including your website address so she can e-mail you personally if she has any other questions of you. Thanks again, Marla
