No, it is totally separate. I just happen to have the good luck to have

both. Most people with mito have liver disease, though usually not

HCV, of one kind or another because the liver depends on mitochondria

to work. My HCV was almost certainly contracted during my first

(quintuple) bypass surgery in 1985.
