It looks like a zillion other news websites, crowded with lots of stuff and devoid of any aesthetic.

Do one thing every day that scares you.

Scotsman's website an embarrassing flopI thought I might be alone in noting that The Scotsman's revampedwebsite is far worse than its predecessor. Evidently not. Readers havevanished. And here's the (admittedly parti pris) view of the site'sformer editor, Kirkpatrick , recorded on his blog:"I knew the new ston Press redesign was, to put it very, very, mildly, unworthy to lick the boots of the 2001-2007 model. I also knewthat traffic would tank. "I warned Tim Bowdler, the JP chief executive, of this face to facesaying the JP redesign would lose 'millions of page views and hundredsof thousands of users'. My warning was ignored and a JP apparatchiklater explained that I had not understood how good their plans were."Well, we can finally see how good their plans were...http://www.guardian .co.uk/media/ greenslade/ 2008/nov/ 19/scotland- pressandpublishi ng

Yep, small town newspapers. But the Scotsman is the big newspaper of

Scotland. It should do better.

Compare their site with

http://www.nytimes.com/

or

http://www.boston.com/bostonglobe/

It is not nearly as nice, which is another reason that I rarely check

it. Excuse me while I return to reading
