Guest guest
Hi , I get all bugs going too. But this didn't happen until I'd had the illness for a few years and I had started to improve a little bit. Its frustrating isn't it? Some go away quickly, but others linger for a few months. I know of a few others in the UK who get cold after cold, and like me, this did not happen in the first few years of illness, but as they started to get a little bit less toxic. I haven't had the flu jab, as there are too many stories of people being made worse by this. I find taking elderberry juice every day during flu season helps to prevent some of the bugs, but not all. Also there are homeopathic flu vaccines available, which help me a little bit, but I keep on forgetting to take them (they need to be taken every 2 weeks). Once when I got flu, I found a homeopathic frequency of the flu bugs helped a bit. Find it difficult to find preventative herbs that work, as most overstimulate my immune system too much. Astragalus has been useful though. Hope this is helpful, Carol > > > Hi All, > I hate to keep harping on about my current unexplained phase of > being a magnet for every flu virus going about. > I posted about this for the second time last week. > I've only had one reply so far. > So I'm beginning to wonder if what is happening to me > is not common among CFS suffers and that perhaps something > else is going on that is making me so vulnerable to catching flus. > > I'm not at all clear if I keep catching new ones or it's the first > severe strain of flu I caught this winter that keeps mutating? > Here it is almost summer.Actually I can't be certain but I think I've had > up to 6 this season. > Apart from a daily sore throat,it seems I've kicked the last one. > This is my pattern and then before I know it I've been hit again. > I'm more exhausted and weak than I have been in the 9yrs that I've had ME. > > Any input would be appreciated > > Cheers
Guest guest
I had every cold and bug that came along until I got treatment for Fibro. Don't know why exactly. Maybe because my sinuses were always snuffy. Maybe they trapped bugs. Also had cold sores often. Maybe was just because I was so acidic. Glad to get off that merry go round. Let me know if I can help in any way. Anne H http://www.fibrofix.com -- Can't go to sleep or back to sleep? Tired, stiff, in terrible pain? Can't think clearly? Weight gain? Acid reflux? Tingling? Guest guest
Hi , AFAIK this is because of having high cortisol in the body for long periods.long term high cortisol secretion suppresses the immune system. I was catching every virus around me for the first 10 years of my illness. Than just before being bed ridden it got worse. I was in continuos flu stage for about 3 months just before getting worse energy wise.Than I went into a period of relatively better resistance to flu viruses.(no more cortisol). If you ask my opinion I think you need to find a way to control your cortisol production.Any other approaches will be of temporary relief. Best regards. Nil flu viruses Hi All, I hate to keep harping on about my current unexplained phase of being a magnet for every flu virus going about. Guest guest
Nil.The last time(years ago) I had a 24hr urine cortisol test it was normal. My blood tests show high cortisol levels. Do you know which test is the most accurate? How do you control cortisol? I don't feel under any great amount of stress other than being ill,its by far my biggest stressor. Hi , Some of these tests do not give accurate results always. Plus the test you had years ago might not have any meaning at this point. Most accurate one as far as i know is saliva testing but if your blood cortisol levels are high you might not even need that. You don't need to have much external stress after your cortisol thytm is screwed up. Your body starts generating excess cortisol automatically. To control? I am not sure. I have not yet found and perfect answer for that. If I have found an answer,I believe I would be on my way to getting well. It is very difficult to control this problem.I use Adaptogens to control stress response like rhodiola rosea,Seriphos to control excess pitutary stimulation, herbs like valerian to control stress handling. I could not yet found correct dosages for myself plus I don't have much high cortisol at this point. So,our cases differ. If you believe that high cortisol is the cause, you might wish to make some search on this and try different supplements to see which one would be helpful at what dosage. Relaxation tehniques, getting good rest and sleep improves the condition in time. Thanks. nil
