Virologist warns of coming flu season Feb 17, 2008

A leading virologist is warning us to get the flu vaccination before

the annual epidemic begins.

It follows an announcement by the The World Health Organisation, which

says the three most common flu viruses circulating the globe have

changed significantly.

Virologist Dr Lance Jennings says a new strain of the flu has been

discovered in America. He says this new strain could outdate current

vaccinations, but it's still better to get the jab.

In New Zealand, the flu epidemic usually peaks in June or July, and

the vaccination campaign begins next month.
