Guest guest
Hi , I was a big carb eater also. My first couple of weeks on the ER diet I ate Ezekieal bread or rye crackers with soybutter and apricot jam. After that, I ate less and less. Then, I was just basically snacking on the crackers; and now that's fairly rare also. It was just a slow cutback with me. I also took up drinking peppermint tea in large glasses. Taking 'Citrimax' can help take away the hunger. Hope this helps even a bit. Deborah
Guest guest
Thanks, Deborah. I am eating the Ezekiel bread and jam, but seem to be gaining weight. Everyone says eating carbs makes you hungry for more carbs, so that's why I'm trying to cut back. I'll try the peppermint tea. Guest guest
Rice cakes with your favourite topping are great. They are made from 100% pure brown rice. in NZ. Low-carb Snacks? Does anyone else get hungry if they don't eat carbs? Protein and veggies just don't seem to fill me up--that is, they don't stick to my ribs for long. I'm trying to cut back on carbs but find myself hungry all the time, which can lead to eating avoids if there's nothing else around. I need to find an acceptable, low-carb snack to keep in my desk at work so I don't reach for those avoids when I'm starving. * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * Curriculum Editor Extended Studies, Texas Tech University (806) 742-7200, Ext. 272 ------------------------------------------------------------------------ Accurate impartial advice on everything from laptops to table saws. 1/3020/8/_/473523/_/958500885/ ------------------------------------------------------------------------ You are receiving this email because you elected to subscribe to the mailing list. Guest guest
This might help your problem. I am sensetative/allergic to a lot of foods and things and it takes me 4 days to get it out of my system and then I am back to normal. If I eat too many carbo. (alchol, jams, honey, grains, fruit, etc.) it also takes 4 days to get the craving for carbo. out of your system. I have to be very strict with myself and not eat any for the 4 days and then I introduce a little bit. I have found my tolerance to be about every 2 days but remember everyone is different. Also after ovulation I crave sweet things but I have just found the thing that helps me to stop the craving is a product called dairy free lactobac powder. Ingred. is a blend of lactobacillus acidophilus and bifidobacterium bifidum. It is the same germ that creates yoghurt but I have a problem with all dairy so I take this. It is a necessary ingredient in truly good Mexican salsa IMHO. However it seems to me that people either love or hate it. And scallions are just another name for green or spring onions. Be sure that the bunch you get from the grocery has a pungent fragrance when you pinch a leaf. I store it stem down in a small glass of water in the refrig, and cover loosely with plactic wrap or a plastic bag. Lasts quite a while that way. Guest guest
Thanks for the tip on storing cilantro. Now I don't have to make a special trip during the week when I want to make a meal with cilantro. I really like making a Mexican type salad (romaine lettuce, a sliced scallion, a few bites of tomato) and top it with salsa verde (made from tomatotillos) and cilantro. A great salad with a bite... -caroline Re: Low-carb Snacks? Guest guest
Sherry: I actually don't make it. I buy it in the store, usually in the Mexican/Cuban food section. The one I buy is in a can and the label is in Spanish & English. There do not appear to be any additives other than iodized salt. There are some recipes where you use tomatotillos, cilantro, lime juice, & jalepeno peppers, but it's a lot of work. I'd recommend buying it. -caroline Re: Low-carb Snacks? > > >In a message dated 05/21/2000 5:57:13 PM Mountain Daylight Time, >sherrymccartney@... writes: > ><< > Hi Pam, Cilantro is coriander leaf, that has come as a surprise.
