Why should it have been milder in Africa than elsewhere ?

Even in August 2009 the PCAST experts did estimate 60000 deaths

for USA.

We still don't know what happened in 1918, it's a similar virus,

who knows whether a similar thing might have happened or still may ?

H3N2 typically causes more deaths than H1N1.

I see no reason to doubt the CDC-estimates wrt. children deaths,

I do see no argument against it.

However wrt. mortality it was not much worse (if) than a normal season,

even if we consider that younger people did die.
