CARACAS (Dow )--Venezuela's health minister said Wednesday that an AH1N1

outbreak was under control even as diagnosed cases of swine flu jumped to 923

and a local group of medical professionals blamed the government for failing to

take preventive steps after a worldwide 2009 flu pandemic...

With the rapid rate of infections, Oleta said he doubts Sader's statement that

the illness is under control.

" I hope that's true, " he said, but in comparing the 2009 outbreak in Venezuela

to the present eruption, " this wave has been more intense, more rapid and of a
