Liz, it could be an ear or sinus infection. They say to let your doctor know

if there are any signs of infection while taking Remicade. Maybe you should

give them a call before your visit?

Liz,

It could very well be the Sjogrens. It can cause dryness

throughout the body, not just the eyes and the mouth and throat.

Painful inner ears can be signs of allergy, also. My

Ear/Nose/Throat doctor is treating me for allergies and asthma.

Didn't know I had asthma. My ears frequently hurt and he says it's

allergies and that the Sjogrens adds to the agony.

For those of you who don't know what Sjogrens Syndrome is:

Sjogrens is an autoimmune disorder that causes salivary glands, eye

glands, and other moisture producing tissue in the body to fail to

produce saliva, tears, etc. It causes arthritic-like pain, and can

attack other tissue and organs of the body such as the lungs. For

more information on this condition go to www.sjogrens.org or

www.dry.org Our website www.risg.org has a link library to other

information about this disease and other topics of interest to

members.

Liz,

Have you considered TMJ as a cause of your ear pain? It is actually a problem

with the jaw that is often referred to the ear. It might be something to check

out.

Liz: I didn't catch your original post, but we have a virus going through

our office that gives you very sore ears--thinking its an ear infection or

sinus infection. The drs for each person said there was no infection and

said it was viral (sp?) and to use ibuprofen and get some rest. For each

person it lasted several days and did go away. Sorry if yours is more

prolonged. If so, I'd see the allergist. A nasal spray called beconase took

care of my chronic sinus problems. Good luck and God Bless. Kathy from WI

thanks for this tip:) HUGS

I had an appt scheduled with my rheumy so I asked him. he checked

carefully in my ears and said no infection or redness. they were very

sensitive when he put the instrument in there though. He said could

possibly be a side-effect of TMJ.. like referred pain... dunno.

I just think my ears are better and then they .. esp the right one.. start

to hurt again.. he asked if they hurt when i first wake up and i said no..

it comes on after I have been awake for a while....
