Guest guest
Well, Fenugreek is alright, so I'd imagine that the sprouts are too. They tend to be fairly innocuous in general (except for a few baddies like alfalfa). Guest guest
Thanks . Those broccoli sprouts are loaded with phytonutrients, antioxidant enzymes, etc., so I've heard. Regards, Joe R. Guest guest
Hi Lori, Melody, and anyone else out there doing fenugreek: At what stage is fenugreek the sweetest? The tasty-est? Thanks, Jess From: Melody <eliz7212@...> Subject: Re: Buckwheat sprouts Date: Saturday, May 8, 2010, 7:04 PM  Hi. Melody here, I call myself FENUGREEK LADY!!!! lol I have learned SO much about this little seed you would not believe it. First of all,I have various trays of it on my shelf, sprouting at different times. Because after it starts sprouting, it's like this little sprout that is cruncy. Then a while lady, it's a bit longer. I have read that it's good for diabetes but only when it's in the short stage. I have no idea whether this is true or not. So, in my other trays I sprout Fenugreek for 7 days. I even have a video up on youtube. It sprouts LONG after 7 days. Completely different than after, let's say, 3 days. So I have the same food, FENUGREEK, looking completely different, because they are sprouted for shorter and longer times. And the other day, in my salad, I added some sliced black olives, some cherry tomatoes, some brassica sprouts (cabbage, radish, broccoli), and then I tossed in some 3 day old, some 5 day old, and some 7 day old fenugreek. THEN!!! I took some mung beans sprouts that I sprouted and they had leaves. Now the only way I will eat these is if I stir fry them for about 30 or so seconds. Don't ask me why, I just like them that way. I then add the newly stir fried mung bean sprouts to the salad. Add a small can of tuna, or some grilled whatever, some sea salt, fresh ground pepper, a splash of lemon juice and some extra virgin olive oil, and believe me, I was in heaven. This was my lunch. I couldn't go into a Burger King or a Mc, or any other place because I don't know where they get their stuff. Guest guest
Try mixing the sprouts with hash brown potatoes, read the recipe...use them when they are just sprouted. :^9 From: Melody <eliz7212verizon (DOT) net> Subject: Re: Buckwheat sprouts Date: Saturday, May 8, 2010, 7:04 PM Â Hi. Guest guest
You know, I don't know the answer because I ONLY USE THEM IN MY SALADS. I don't like the regular taste of sprouts. I have a friend who eats them as they sprout. Now I've done that but it's NOT how I use my sprouts. They have to be in my breakfast sandwich, or in my salad. They are just dandy like that. Guest guest
I found the taste by themselves to be rather strong and strange, that's why I asked. What do they go well with, in a salad? Guest guest
So, about how many days do you think is ideal to let them sprout? Guest guest
Hi. I just posted this recipe in a post a few minutes ago, so I'll just copy and paste how I make my salad. Here you go: -------------------------------------------------------- And the other day, in my salad, I added some sliced black olives, some cherry tomatoes, some brassica sprouts (cabbage, radish, broccoli), and then I tossed in some 3 day old, some 5 day old, and some 7 day old fenugreek. THEN!!! I took some mung beans sprouts that I sprouted and they had leaves. Now the only way I will eat these is if I stir fry them for about 30 or so seconds. Guest guest
I have several trays, sprouting at different times. In 7 days you will have long long flowery sprouts. In three days, you will have shorter ones. I use them ALL!! Guest guest
Jess, that of course, is personal taste. Start a batch of fenugreek and start tasting it at the end of day two, three etc. You have to be your own judge. For me, 4 days is best. ew Re: Buckwheat sprouts Date: Saturday, May 8, 2010, 7:04 PM Hi. Guest guest
Melody, try grazing. You will love it. My grand kids come over and you would think that they're baby goats. Through the kitchen nibbling the sprouts out the kitchen door to the garden where they pick peas or beans and pull up a carrot and eat right on the spot. My six year old grand son came for lunch today and wanted to know why there were no nasturtium flowers on his sandwich. ew Re: fenugreek sprouts You know, I don't know the answer because I ONLY USE THEM IN MY SALADS. Guest guest
EW: What do you mean by grazing? Do you mean, walking over to my sprout shelf, and taking bits and eating my sprouts straight from the trays? Is this what you mean? I've done that. I don't like sprouts that way. I like my salads and in my breakfast sandwich. Just a personal preference I would gather. But I DO do one thing if I am going to go out to dinner with hubby. If I don't want to eat a lunch and I HAVE to eat SOMETHING because I'm a diabetic, I THEN WILL grab of handful of sprouts and munch on them because I HAVE to eat something. I don't like them this way, but I won't drink a Glucerna or anything like that as a meal replacement. Have you seen the list of ingredients in those drinks? Good Lord! melody

I'm very concerned about what I put into my body. ew Re: fenugreek sprouts EW: What do you mean by grazing?
