Guest guest
Hi, I am so sorry you are suffering with mouth sores. I wanted to share that my mouth sores became so frequent that my gp finally put me on a daily maintenance dose of acyclovir. I still get one from time to time but the frequency is reduced greatly. I was interested in your statement that you taken antifgungals. I have had many bouts with fungus; sinuses, blood stream, and most recently, in my ear. Usually oral medication takes care of it but I have done IV therapy at home and hyperbaric unit at the hospital. Good luck. Jane --------------------------------- Never miss a thing. Guest guest
Jane: What's tests were performed to ID your fungal infections. I've been on antiotics for a year. My mouth / tongue often has been developing a white coating -- particularly while doing exercise, etc. I'd like to investigate. Thanks. ________________________________________________________________________________\ ____ Be a better friend, newshound, and know-it-all with Mobile. Guest guest
Your tongue is most likely a yeast infection. Please see your doctor, he can help and it probably will not require testing. I have had sinus surgery six or seven times. Several of those times the problem was fungal (aspergillis) and it was not identified and treated until after the surgery. About five years ago, my left thumb became swollen, red, and very painful. I saw the doctor numerous times but finally a biopsy was done; I am sorry I can't remember the name of the fungus but it was rare and my thumb was opened the second time to confirm. I took IV treatment at home for several months and ended up 150 miles from home going in the hyperbaric unit every day. The doctor's down there said I would lose the thumb. So far it is doing well and I can still use it. My ear has been treated as inflammation only for about a year. Finally a few weeks ago, the doctor cultured the tissue and it too is a fungal infection. I'm putting cream in it twice a day. I have had fungus behind by knees in the crease of your leg and at the panty line. I was always given antifungal creams to use. I now sleep in all cotton pajamas to decrease the possibility of fungus. I hope this helps. My history is long and I don't think about how much has gone on until I start to tell someone else. I said in an earlier post that my younger son has been diagnosed with ankylosing spondiolitis and ulcerative colitis. All thanks to the wonderful HLA B27 gene that I passed on. He is doing Enbrel infections, an oral medications, and steroids when things get really bad. He is 33. I have enjoyed reading the posts because a lot of this information you can't get anywhere else. Take care, see your doc, the yeast can be cleared. Jane --------------------------------- Never miss a thing. Make your homepage.
Guest guest
Jane: I don't mean to bore the rest of the risg group w/ my questions. However, I'm just wondering if a fungus is at the root of my problems versus some kind of chlamydia infection. I've had dozens of test for chlamydia (i.e. urine, swab, blood) even had a synovial tissue biopsy done on my left knee. All were negative. I always suspect chlamydia t. However, I'm wondering if my woes are do to a yeast / fungal infection? What tests could I have done? Thanks. ________________________________________________________________________________\ ____ Looking for last minute shopping deals? Guest guest
Hi, . Do you mind my asking how old you are? I don't guess it really matters what infection triggered the other illnesses. I had my first round of iritis at Age 10 so the doctors think my stepfather had already infected me Clamydia. I don't guess there is anyway to prove that today but I try daily to deal possitively with the things that arise. My son, Greg, is 34 and has ankylosing spondiolitis and ulcerative colitis. He leaned toward being a bubble baby; had severe asthma. I don't know what infection triggered his other problems. I hope you can make peace with this and take really good care of yourself Jane --------------------------------- Never miss a thing. Make your homepage. Guest guest
Jane, This is D. I was born like one of those bubble babies, but my father didn't believe in drs, so all my allergies and infections etc., went untreated except home remidies my mom knew. I developed UC as a teen, and ReA in my 20's. And in time whatever spondilitis comes along. I am now 58,disabled,going blind and in a wheel chair. I had four children, and the youngest has UC and AS also. He is 24, and we are trying to get it to go in remission. I feel it came down as a tendancy towards it thru genes. My mothers fathers family had an aray of sponilitis' and I think my youngest sons father carries the gene also.It is hard to say what the trigger was for my son, because he was born with UC.But I was told that my trigger was getting pregnant, I was 16,and it was full blown at 19,and the ReA was caused by the UC. So, there are many things that can trigger it, but you have to have some tendancy towards it to begain with.
