Guest guest
I'm getting ready to try Acupunture for various reasons. 1) My menstral cycles r rather painful and heavy at times. 2) Help my contractures and temperater regulation problems. 3) Get some chinese herbs for better imunity. I'm trying Roughing right now, so far I've only had one 2 hr session. We'll see how all this alternative therapy goes! Sincerely, s, the Unique Princess. Guest guest
I have used acupunture on and off over the last 14 years. The needles helped some, but the herbs have been most effective. I use it for building energy and stamina and preventing colds (I take Gan Mao Ling when I get early symptoms). Only 2 respriatory infections requiring hospitalization in 10+ years. Acupuncture does not help me with pain or if I'm already sick. Alana
Guest guest
I've previously tried acupuncture for my pains and discomfort, especially in the joints and for my back (since the spinal fusion I've had chronic pain). I benefitted from the acunpuncture more than any other treatment I've ever tried. My pains were gone after the first session and after then I only went back once every 2 months - or when I would push myself physically and hurt myself, such as sleeping on a hard surface like the floor at parties with friends, extensive physical exercise, etc. I wish I could continue it, but my insurance doesn't cover it at all and I haven't the money to afford a session at $150/hour! I ended up having full body treatments by the third session and had needles from my head to my ears to my arms and stomach and legs and toes. It did help me with circulation, as my lower extremities have poor circulation from sitting constantly and are forever cold and often times numb. I wish you and your daughter lots of luck!! ~Kendra > Hi everybody, > I have posted this issue few months back at the sma type II message board, however only a very few responded. Guest guest
I used acupuncture and Homeopatic medicine to strengthen my immunity and it is always hard to prove but I have not been sick for many years. I can't even remember ever been sick. So I think it really helped.
Guest guest
What SMA Type 2 board are you referring to? Could I have a e-mail address? With regard to your question, my (type 2 also) who will be 6 years old in Oct started acupuncture treatment when he was about 14 months old. He has more than just 1 needle though - more like a grand total of about 30! Anyway, we saw results after 2 months of starting and so we have persisted until now. The major improvements that we have seen is better neck and trunk control (e.g. he can now put his head down and bring it back up) and much more strength in his legs (e.g. he can lift his right leg up off the bed to his chest when lying on his back - the left leg he cheats by using his hand to pull it up) He doesn't take Chinese medicine on a regular basis, but the physician will prescribe some on first sign of the sniffles or cough - we found that it helps him clear up much quicker. I was very much a Western medicine person until 's condition drove us to seek alternatives. I believe that in certain areas, traditional chinese medicine does have high efficacy. Guest guest
Hi it is done by simply lying on a table for about 20 minutes after the accupunturist has put very fine needles in certain areas of the body which are designed to stop pain and inflammation. I had to be convinced to go as I can be a little needle-phobic. a --------- Re: Should I Take Medication? .. i realize my disease is not only joint involvement but alot of tendinitis too. i am using acupuncture and last week he treated the tendinitis and i found it very effective. a
