Guest guest
Can anyone offer me some advice? Here is my situation. I am HLA-B27 positive. 20+ years of: - intermittent iritis - prostatitis - intermittent back pain I believe is associated with prostatitis 7-8 years of intermittent: - increased prostatitis symptoms - increased back pain - sometimes hip pain, thigh pain, knee pain, foot pain, especially right side - sometimes sore joints (wrists, knee, feet, hands, etc.) that appear in almost random order, but mostly right side - sometimes stinging, fleeting pain mostly in joints, mostly right side 2 years - prostatitis more often that not - increased joint (hands, feet, hips, low back) pain mostly on right side - persistent swelling and inflammation of right middle finger, other fingers also involved but w/o swelling My rheumatologist has offered to put me on azulfidine, but says that he usually reserves that type of drug to people with more extreme inflammatory joint disease. If I took it, is it reasonable to expect my entire situation to improve? Would my prostatitis improve? Would I be at lower risk to more iritis? Or would this drug only improve my joint problems, which are not terrible? I've usually associated my prostatitis with the other problems. Does anyone have any insight about which is primary, a urological problem or an immune problem? Is my prostatitis causing an immune response in other areas (joints, eyes), or do I have an immune problem that has a prostatitis as one of it's manifestations? Any insight would be welcome.
