Newly diagnosed with ReA

Hi all, I just found this forum this morning, and I'd like to post my

recent experiences. I'm a 24 year old white male.

I came back from a recent vacation in mid-December 2007. My foot

started to hurt just a little bit, but after four days I couldn't walk

due to the swelling and pain. I went to an urgent care clinic and was

diagnosed with cellulitis (essentially an infection). I took Cipro

for a couple weeks, but my foot didn't get any better. I went and saw

an infectious disease specialist and he surprised me by saying he

strongly suspected that there wasn't an infection process creating

this problem.

He gave me some more antibiotics and some NSAIDs and referred me to a

rhuematologist. He instantly suspected ReA given my symptoms, and

surprised me by asking if I had any pain urinating recently. I

remembered that I had about a week before this all started.

He gave me some prednisone which seems to be improving my foot. I'm

still dealing with pain in my foot, knee, and back.
