Hi,

My name is Tim & I am here on behalf of my mother. She has always

had bad eye problems but a few weeks ago it was really bad. Its much

better now but I would like to get any support or suggestions anyone

might have.

She is 65 years old loosely diagnosed with uvitis. Over the past

couple years it flares up & she cant see well. She will take steroids

& other drugs & it usually gets better in a day or 2. This last time

it flared bad, she took the drugs got a bit better then got really

bad. She could not see anything but pure white blur. She was pretty

much 100% blind in that eye. Considering she has only limited

peripheral vision in the other eye, she was pretty much blind,

period. The Dr stopped the steroids & put her on 6 different meds.

The eye got better over the next 2 weeks SLOWLY as we waited to see a

specialist at UCD (UC Medical Center) in Sacramento. The Drs at

UCD say it might have been from when my grandmother was carrying here

& had the measles, or maybe when she had cataract surgery many years

ago (about 25 years ago). When they looked at here they all asked if

she had recent trauma to the eye, she did not, they were very

surprised to here that. The pressure was 38, I think. They really

couldn't say for sure exactly what it is but are calling it uvitis. I

have half the Drs report & am working on the other half. The

suggested to stop all drugs & go back on only steroids & that's where

we now stand. The pressure is down to normal, around 16, she can see

about 90% from what it was, so its not all better yet ( & probably

wont ever be).

This was & is very scary for my mom & all of us. I am hoping to get

any kind of info on what kind of drugs you take. Anything we could do

to maybe prevent a flair up. ANYTHING.

Thanks

Tim
