However, one of the brains behind the raw dog food movement (Dr. Billinghurst) says that grapefruit seed extract has no effect what-so-ever on bacteria. Maybe you need to check this out in more detail, if that's what you're relying on to clear the bacteria. I can't shed any light on it, but I thought I'd bring it up. Jess. If GSE does have an effect on bacteria then it would also attack the " good " bacteria needed for proper digestion and fighting yeast infections. Probiotics would be needed to counter-act anything that kills bacteria. That's why birds, and human's too to a less extent, often get yeast infections after being on a round of antibiotics.
