Guest guest
> elavil is an old antidepressant that is used to help us sleep better.I am on 50 mg of it.your Tylenol can affect your liver too. Then your Ultram ( AKA Tramdol can cause s dizziness, constipation, dry mouth also sleep disturbances.Flexeril is a muscle relaxant and also causes dizziness. You need to get a new Dr,Get all your medications straightened out. from what i see you are a first responders worse nightmare.I should know I am a VOL First responder. Fire this Dr get a new one and give your body time to get rid of some of these medicines. I see allot that do the same thing one can upset your stomach and one can affect your liver and one can do damage to your heart. You really need to find other ways to help with your pain. OK here are mine Synthroid 3/4 of thyroid removed in Am in Afternoon HCT,Altace,Potassium and 1 300 gabapentin for my heart I have had prior heart attacks.IN even ing my 40 mg of liptor and my 50 of elavil to help me sleep and my 2 gabapentin. Now for my supplements I take 6,000-8,000 mg fish oil my neuro endocrine Dr told me to for it helps with our brain fog, then my vitamin e, my Mag with malic acid, super b complex, Co q-10 cause I am on a statin, Acidelophus, olive leaf, calcium with vitamin D3 in it I take those in afternoon around 1-3. I also don't eat white stuff changing from sugar to stevia I stay away from MSG and aspartame the worst for people with fibromyalghia, NO fast foods or nothing from Deli or bakery at ll. No trans fats. we do eat allot of fish and chicken skin removed, no canned veggies fresh or frozen. Then nothing fried either.I eat right and when I have a flare I remember what i ate the day before or the same day too. so I can take it away from my eating plan then slowly a it back in. I am not trying to make you mad at me but I think from my medical standpoint you are on too many Rx's and OTC's which counteract you. Please get a new Dr or have your Dr or even a nutrient go over your medication with you my friend. I and I know your wife and kids and family want to see you around along long time. Remember to be grateful for what you can do and concrate on that than what you cannot do. Now for your celebrex watch out if you have any heart problems my cardiologist took me of it. He told me Celebrex and asprin are a bad combo. Guest guest
Heidi, In the last 3 years I have been seen by, on the low side 12 different doctors. State run training hospital. Kind of a lab rat experience. the last time I was there I was looked at for 5 whole min. by a trainer before getting booted out of the system again. It seams this state does not Fibromyalgia as a real problem, it is an imagined disease because it does not show up on their tests or xrays. I managed after 2 1/2 years of trying to see the rheumatologist, and when I did get to see the " doctor instructor " he grilled me on where did I get this " diagnonsense " and how much money did they scam out of me. let me know that the point was mute in further discussion. But some young doctors in training would be happy to write down some prescription to try. But there was never any follow up to the simple question is this doing you any good. I did lose the fear of giving blood. every time give blood for testing. sometimes two or three tests. I know you might be thinking why stick with a program that is doing you no good... Well at the time it was down to $$ . But with some new ideas and selling off odds and ends, I have left the system, for " expensive " doctors. And what good has it done, so far nothing. I do not take all those meds at one time. As for flexeril 10mg, it raised my blood pressure and heart rate until I had a heart attack. It was just a " small one " (if there is such a thing) according to the doctor. but the very first problems when I knew something was wrong, after an accident, broke 3 ribs, dislocated knee, several cuts and concussion. I never felt like I got well after that. I was always hurting. the xrays show everything is fine, but nothing feels fine. pain spread like poison ivy. I worked to forget it, but each day reality set in more. stiffens every morning that took more time to get worked out. After 2 1/2 to 3 hours I can move around. but the pain never really goes away. As for wife and kids, there is no more. An a subject not debated anywhere. Not that you or anyone could have known, but that is just the way it will be, ok. But I will have to do some reading to see what changes can or would effect me. As for foods, the only meat I eat or have been eating is fish. Herring and salmon but not anything with high salt content. Don't do dairy, lactose intolerance, And soy milk and soy products ruin thyroid function, Do a search " Soy suppresses thyroid function " so thats out. As for goat milk... I rest my case, yuck. I know soda, tea and coffee are no no's. And How could I be mad at you, I am not offended, nor do I know you. So Hello.... Ps. Well this pencil is wore out now.... > > > > elavil is an old antidepressant that is used to help us sleep > better.I am on 50 mg of it.your Tylenol can affect your liver too. > Then your Ultram ( AKA Tramdol can cause s dizziness, constipation, > dry mouth also sleep disturbances.Flexeril is a muscle relaxant and > also causes dizziness. > > You need to get a new Dr,Get all your medications straightened out. > from what i see you are a first responders worse nightmare.I should > know I am a VOL First responder. Guest guest
; Please check out Domini's site she suggested OK. It took me about 12 years to get a DX of fibromyalgia. I started to show symptoms in 1994 and my PCP back then didn't believe in fibromyalgia,CFIDS etc those diseases I had to stick with her for insurance reasons. I have had X-ray's MRI's with and without contrast, Upper and lower Scopes twice and also Cat scans etc been through the system with the tests more than once. Even had a complete blood work up too. I was finally Dx'd in July of 2006.I knew I had it too. But yes I am glad you red up on things too. Thanks for the explanation.I don't know what state you liv e in but try the Teaching hospitals I got to UF & Shands in JAX.. my Neuro- endocrine Dr is also a teacher at UF & Shands in Gainesville all my are professors. Yes there is such a thing as a small heart attack where it doesn't do much damage to muscles.I know a lady that has had 3 heart attacks due to her fibro and chronditis in her chest. The Dr thought it was her fibromyalgia sent her home and they had to call rescue to. so just be careful my friend OK. And please check dominies site for men too. Hugs Hedi

Guest guest
Hi , I was diagnosed with Fibromyalgia two weeks ago. My rheumatologist prescribed the generic form of Darvocet up to four times a day as I tend to resist taking drugs yet need pain medication. If it doesn't work, he wants me to take Neurontin or Lyrica. A friend of ours whom is a nurse practitioner told me that Lyrica is the best one to take. Darvocet takes the edge off the pain at best. It helps me loosen up when I work out and when I walk any distance to speak of. I don't think it will help me at all when the pain is severe. When I call him to tell him how I'm doing, I'm going to ask him if I can take Darvocet when the pain is moderate and Lyrica when the pain is severe. I'm not real familiar with Lyrica and I don't know if I can alternate it with Darvocet. Like you I have a sense of humor. I've read that laughter is the best medicine, something that I totally agree with. Please keep us posted about how you are doing.
Guest guest
, I take Flexeril, Lyrica 75mg, 3x a day and Percocet 10mg. 4x a day. The Flexeril I have been taking for over 30 yrs. ago when I first had symptoms of Fibro. It doesn't do much for me anymore. I have been taking Lyrica for about 4 months now and it helps some. stretching exercises help me alot first thing in the morning. And the Percocet I take for all the other chronic pain I have, due to OA, Lupus, Fibro and it takes the edge off. It is a step up from Darvocet, which I used to take. i also used to take Lortabs, but the Percocet seems to work better for me. I need knee replacement surgery and I am a big chicken and won't get it done and I use a walker or a cane now most of the time when I go out, which is about once a week. And also my regular Dr. appts. I also have Bipolar Disorder, but that is a whole other problem! I take meds for that also. Abilify, Visteril and Elavil. And a host of other meds for other problems. Sorry you have Fibro, but I am glad you got a DX, and y ou were not told it is all in your head...... Thanks for listening, from TN.**************Looking for a car that's sporty, fun and fits in your budget? Read reviews on AOL Autos. Guest guest
, Lyrica has strong side effects that do not pass until you've taken the medication for a couple of weeks (consecutively) and sometimes still don't go away. Lyrica isn't a pain med and it wouldn't work well if it's not taken consecutively. I would suggest small doses of methadone to alternate with the Darvocet. 5mg to start with. It's worked very well for me, especially since it lasts for 8 hrs. If I maintain a good schedule and keep the med in my system I can go the day without any pain spikes you get when the med wears off. Ikve been using it for about 9mo now, starting at 2.5mg 2xday to now I take 10mg 4xday since my system has gotten used to it. Hope this helps and welcome to the group. It's a wonderful resource! -Cat - Re: Whats left.....Fibromyalgia Meds. Hi , I was diagnosed with Fibromyalgia two weeks ago. Guest guest
Hi , I have severe Osteoarthritis in ALL joints throughout my body and the cartlidge is gone in my kness, tendons and ligaments are torn also. You can hear them pop and crack and crunch with every step I take. I spent 10 months in the hospital in 2004-05. First I had gallbladder surgery and as soon as I got home from that, I started having horrific pain in my stomach area and it took them months to figure out I had a cyst on my Pancreas. I vomited all day and all night and had very few days when I didn't have constant pain. They shuffled me between the three hospital in the area here, because they couldn't find a surgeon who was willing to do the surgery. I now have Pancreatis and have to watch what I eat. So, I waited and waited and in the meantime, because I was so sick, I didn't notice that my teeth were rotting and I went in with not so even a filling in my mouth and by the time I had my abdominal surgery on Jan. 1, '05, and recuperated I was finally sent home without my teeth! From the vomiting and all the meds and a frequent resident of the ICU because of constant infections, were the cause of loosing my teeth, and Medicare won't pay for any teeth procedures and I live on disibility and get well below the poverty level income, I can't afford to have them fixed. I was cut open from below my breasts down to you know where. It was horrible. So i am in no hurry for more surgery. I can't tell you how may times Dr.s told me they didn't know what to do with me. And I had one surgeon visit me on day and actually told me I had a 70% chance of dying if I had the surgery!!!! I am glad you love Tennessee. I have lived here all of my life and where I am we are surrounded by the mountains. Mydaughter, husband and my only grandson live in lin off of I-65 and they work in Nashville. I don't get to see them much, and my daughter would like it if I moved down there, but the don't have a section 8 housing voucher program like they do here, and I couldn't afford to live there or nearby. Sorry you have Fibro. I do alot of stretching in the morning and that helps alot. I can't just get out and take a walk like I used to. I loved to hike in the mountains and do rock climbing, a very outdoorsey person. When I worked, on my days off, I would head to the mountains, but now I don't have a car that would make it anywhere except around town, barely. I used to be a photographer and won many awards from around the world, not in a studio, but nature and my daughter when she was growing up. I used to sell alot of my photos. They were displayed at the Epcot Center and I had several exihbits here. You shoud come up this way, where the mountains are. I am so bow-legged bow because of my knees. I just hate the thought of surgery and have it done again in 10 years or less do it again!!!. Guest guest
Cat, I appreciate your suggestions and your warm welcome so much! How do you alternate your methadone and your darvocet? Please tell me the way you take them. This sounds like the best treatment for me. Thank you for telling me about the Lyrica. After reading your post and posts by others, I've decided to avoid taking it. One of many things that I like about this group is that it's a place where people understand first hand what we go through.
Guest guest
Hello Group, I know it has been a while since I posted last. Partly due to blurry vision and had trouble reading what is you all have wrote. So I guess that is a down side effect of lyrica I hope that none of you have to go threw, or are going threw. Well anyway I saw a new doctor last week, and now I only take gabapentin which is doing nothing that I can tell. hope that it will eventually do something for the pain, the stiffness without much side effects. getting kind of tired of the whole experience and there is nothing I can do about it. I guess it has been too long since I felt good, or maybe I'm just having a bad hair day.....lol.... I know it is not funny but hey I got to laugh because there is not much else that work for me yet. This " New Doctor " whips out something like a blackberry or something and starts scrolling down and reading pages like he is looking for a clue to a puzzle and does not even know the game is GO FISH.....lol... well I guess you could say he is just out of school and loves his electronic toys. Well time will tell if this work or not, I hope that it does something. I take gabapentin 100mg 3 times a day, And 82mg aspirin and thats all. Well hope that you all are feeling good or even better Great... > > Hi , > > I was diagnosed with Fibromyalgia two weeks ago. Guest guest
I use Gabpentin 600mg in the morning 600 in the afternoon and 600 at bedtime.
