Thanks Heidi

I take Tramadol, Flexeril and Trazadone, but I think it's just a

phase since I go thru it every few months along with the other phases

that befalls us. It doesn't hurt, just hard to swallow and talk!

Thank goodness for the computer!!!

Thanks, again!

-I have this problem and wasn't sure if it was fibro related. It

happens to mew so often I feel like I am going to choke. It is also

very hard for me to swallow my meds.

Devin says it comes from a triggerpoint (see below). Whatever it is, it is certainly scary sometimes. It's as if our throat muscles suddenly seize up. I can even get it drinking water. Fortunately it doesn't happen too often. My brother used to get it with his MS too.

"Problems swallowing, chewing pain, jaw clicking, TMJD, soreness inside the throat, excessive saliva secretion and sinusitis-like pain, drooling in sleep, choking on saliva -- can all come from an internal medial pterygoid TrP, which is often overlooked."

That is exactly how it feels. I told my husband it felt like an

asthma attack. My youngest son is now being tested for MS so I'll

pass on the info to him. I've wondered if Fibro and MS are related.

Thanks again - I also have that dr's book on Fibromyalgia.

Hi ,

I have had the symptoms you mention for the last several years and my

doctor attributed them to acid reflux. I take Tums and/or Prilosec OTC

as needed and it takes care of the problem.

Yes I did. I went through a 6 month period where I had pain when

swallowing food and times when my throat felt like it was closing up.

I went to an Ear Nose and Throat Dr. after many tests it was

determined that my throat issues were due to allergies. The allergy

meds helped and I could swallow without pain. Howver when eating

certain foods i still got the feeling of my throat closing up. the

foods that seem to cause that were wheat/gluten foods. Currently i am

not eating wheat/gluten for 10 months and then gradually adding them

back into my diet to see if I still react to them. If I have issues

with those foods I know I will have to keep them out of my diet.

, I just read all the responses to this your original email.

Dont we all find it curious that the symptoms you have, many of us

had and all treated different with success?

Allergy/foods, mucinex and hot tea, triggerpoints, tums/prilosec.

I believe that trigger points have much to do with my isses. I was

having the TMJ issues at the same time i was having the swallowing

issues.

Now my concern is that spring is here in Pennsylvania and some of my

seasonal allergy issues are back and wondering if the throat issue

will return.

Good luck

keep us posted with your results

I read in my book and it said to rub the throat (as much as you can

handle). I did that and drank 2 cups of hot chocolate. It was 60%

better yesterday and 80% today!

Thanks to everyone!

I have this happen, most often when I am eating bread or meat. It is very scary. Sometimes I think I'm going to need the heimlich maneuver.
