Guest guest
Has anyone had good results taking nystatin and going on a anti-candida diet? My current and again new holistic doctor wants me to try it for 4 months. Please let me know if anyone has had pain relief from doing this. It seems like it will be a challenging diet to follow. Thanks.
Guest guest
I've always been interested in nystatin, but never tried it. About 20 years ago, a good friend gave me a book called THE YEAST CONNECTION by Dr. Crook. That's where I first heard about it. Would be curious to know how it worked for anyone in our group. > > Has anyone had good results taking nystatin and going on a anti- candida > diet? Guest guest
My doctor actually loaned me the book along with a cookbook. It is very tough since all sugar, fruits for the first month and yeast have to be eliminated while on the drug. Yeast is in a lot of different foods. And sugar is in everything that comes in a package or box! > > > > Has anyone had good results taking nystatin and going on a anti- > candida > > diet? Guest guest
I wonder if just eliminating sugar in all its forms - food, fruits, juices, etc. would be almost as effective (maybe more gentle on the system?) than using nystatin PLUS the diet? I talk about fructose intolerance in my 100 Tips for Coping with FMS at http://www.fms- help.com/tips.htm > > > > > > Has anyone had good results taking nystatin and going on a anti- > > candida > > > diet? Guest guest
I've been on the anti-candida diet for a few months (with a few breaks in between to see how it's working). When one herbal anti-fungal failed, my doctor put me on a more stringent diet (basically only meats, vegetables, nuts and seeds, non-fat plain yogurt and no more than a cup of beans a day) along with Diflucan. I couldn't tolerate the Diflucan (of all things, it screwed up my sleep) so I just stayed on the diet, while still taking enteric-coated garlic, a good probiotic, and betaine hydrochloride with each meal. With the diet, alone, though, I had no yeast symptoms (until I went off it.) The diet isn't too hard to stay on once you get rolling on it. And I felt much, much better. I don't know about Nystatin but I can vouch for the diet.
