Just don't do the mist in the nose because it has live virus.  The shot is

only dead virus and should be safe for us.  I get one religiously every year.

Have not had any problems.

I've heard both sides from different doctors that its not safe and that I MUST

have it. I've chosen not to since the last time I had it, I had 3 respitory

infections in 3 months.

All,

I think I am with Kathy on this one. I have done fine for 4 years and not gotten

any serious infections until I was given several vaccines all at once from the

VA doctor. I have been off wotk for nearly a week and feel like total crap. My

last doc said not to get any, should have listened to her.

My understanding is it's very important to get it. I take methotrexate so I have

lower immunity. This year and last I got my flu shot at the rheumatologist's

office. I also had the pneumonia shot last year -- it's not just for old people,

but for us sickies too.

I work in close proximity to people who have young children and they are always

sick with something, so I am going to be washing my hands like a maniac for the

rest of the season.

I do have a reaction, it is not just to the flu vax but to all immune modifying

medications. I find it best to stay away and aftet this year will not be getting

any more.

Ken,

I have taken the flu shot for probably 20 years, my partner works in health care

and that is another way i can get exposed to nasty bugs. As far as I know, I've

never had a reaction to it.

I was just diagnosed with reactive arthritis in 2010, it's hard to say which

infection from the past caused it, but if it was campylobacter or something

else, it wasn't anything recent.
