Guest guest
These suggestions were made by a savvy message board member, and I think they will help us follow the discussions better. Change the subject line when the topic changes. The reason is twofold: first, for those who receive the daily digest, they pick topics they want to read more about and click on them and it's disappointing when the topic has long since changed. Secondly, for people who read the messages from the website rather than get emails in their inbox, it can get frustrating when the subject doesn't match the topic, and there is a whole thread of emails with that subject line that doesn't pertain to that subject. For instance, in the case of the subject email thread about the newest fibro commercial, the topic has completely changed. Also, another thing we can do is delete the post we are replying to (or at least most of it), because when people leave one or more original messages at the end of their new message, it makes for a lot of repetition and a very long email to wade through for those getting the digest. Sometimes it's better to create a new email rather than hit reply. I am a newbie to having a message board, but these suggestions seem good to me. What do you all think? Will this work better for us? I know (our wonderful moderator) mentioned the advantages and disadvantages of the Daily Digest recently, so if some of this info has been covered already, please excuse. I am really enjoying the posts! Dominie
Guest guest
Dominie, I think this is just a wonderful idea! I choose to do the digest method of receiving posts and it a very cumbersome email to say the least. Quite often I find myself simply deleting the entire thing, rather than wade through the numerous lonnnnnnnng forwarded and quoted posts. While there is a benefit to keeping the original post in place, it does not need to be repeated a dozen times with everyones reply. Thanks for this idea to improve the board and of course for all you do for all of us. Thai
Guest guest
I think erasing everything below the original post would be useful. Sometimes the context of the post is an answer and without the original post, no one can remember the question. Or at least I can't. If we wilnot overload the baord. some we do some we donot. But I think erasing it will work well too. Hugs heidi
Guest guest
Pam, I agree about leaving some of the original post on the email you are responding to so people remember what the question/comment was. One solution I use is to keep just a portion of the original post at the end of my email, like this: ---original message - pam wrote ----- I think erasing everything below the original post would be useful. Sometimes the context of the post is an answer and without the original post, no one can remember the question. Or at least I can't. ****** In this case, I started a new email because I use digest and by hitting reply to group, it doesn’t give me the option of deleting the previous message. So I use the same subject line and copy the part of the into my new email. Shari Ferbert www.AFFTER.org
