Guest guest
Fibromyalgia and the type-A personality… what a concept and great topic for discussion. In AFFTER’s questionnaire study, 78% of FMS patients are a self-reported type-A personality and 31% say they are somewhat, or used to be. This is compared to 64% (and 12% maybe/used to be) reported by the normal controls surveyed. That is a significant difference, and there is something to that that needs to be explored. Holding back a person with a type-A personality, is probably the biggest source of frustration for us. We are accustomed to having a very active, challenging life and this illness tends to stop us in our tracks. I've seen it referred to in some literature, and I've certainly seen the pattern in About.com's Fibromyalgia & Chronic Fatigue Syndrome forum. I also know it's true of me. <<<See link for whole article>> Shari Ferbert President, AFFTER Advocates for Fibromyalgia Funding, Treatment, Education and Research www.affter.org
Guest guest
I have often thought the FMS was the body's way of saying "SLOW DOWN". Most of us went at breakneck speed before the FMS hit. - Type-A Personality in Fibromyalgia Fibromyalgia and the type-A personality… what a concept and great topic for discussion. Guest guest
Interesting but in my case, totally untrue. I am so far removed from Type A! My boss - he IS type A and healthy as a horse.
