Guest guest
Luiz Moreira wrote: Luiz, Thanks for the input. But, I still disagree about the importance of Ph & temperature, as well as the need for enteric coating the enzymes to pass the stomach. In Dr. Howell's book, Enzyme Nutrition, he explains in great detail what happens at each phase of digestion from the upper stomach where enzyme action is supposed to begin for most foods. He details the Ph changes, from upper to lower stomach, small & large intestines, which are supposed to turn ezyme action on and off. And, shows that enzymes being destroyed by stomach acid to be a fallacy, since they do survive. Further, that temperatures also turn them on and off, and in the case of some enzymes, they simply don't work at normal human body temperatures. In the case of people like myself, with an underactive thyroid, my body temperature is even lower, which is why I have further trouble digesting food. This is also a good reason for not drinking cold liquids with meals. My reason for believing so strongly in what I do is because the enzymes I am now taking are working, where digestive enzymes I have taken all my life did not work, and were made up mostly of the enzymes I have listed as being active at the wrong temp or Ph. Dr. Howell's book is decades old and should be in libraries to read. The paperback costs $7.16 at http://www.amazon.com/exec/obidos/generic-quicksearch-query/002-3813645-4410200 and I understood more in the first 20 pages than I had all my life. jim -- jim@... http://www.entrance.to/madscience http://www.entrance.to/poetry amicus certus in re incerta

I believe it is more important to understand what is needed so you can recognize the ingredients on a label when you see one. I have posted the list of ingredients 3 times in the last few weeks. The company I buy from won't sell to the public. My chiropractor buddy buys them for me. I recommend you read Enzyme Nutrition by Dr. Howell. Guest guest
Just to clarify, I do take papaya enzymes, I take them as part of my parasite cleansing. During this process I have noted that I do not digest potato. I do not take the papaya to digest starches. But I was wondering if there is a certain deficiency or condition that might cause the potatoes to not be digested - I do digest rice. > Hi Jim, > > I believe you should review your oppinion about bromelain, papain > not being fit for human consumption due to pH. Guest guest
, okay, well, you asked. I am on a simple diet of chicken, baked potato, veggies and a few other things. I am working with a nutritionist doing parasite cleanse, she wants me to go through my bowel movements with a stick. Sure enough there have ben chunks of potato, I couldn't be sure it was potato, but then I found a big chunk with the skin still attached! There could be no mistaking it. :-)

During this process I have noted that I do not digest potato. I do not take the papaya to digest starches. But I was wondering if there is a certain deficiency or condition that might cause the potatoes to not be digested - I do digest rice. , An underactive thyroid causes an underactive pancreas, and since the pancreas does the work of converting, manufacturing & secreting digestive enzymes (other than salivary amylase) into the small intestines. People with a severly affected pacreas usually have a tension or pain after eating in the following location: Put your finger in the inverted " V " of soft tissue just below the center of the breastbone. This should be a few inches above your navel. Then move your finger to the left about 1 inch, on the edge of the ribcage. Then try to push the finger around-under the ribcage. If there is any sensitivity here you definitely have a sluggish pancreas. BTW, rice is much easier to digest. I have no trouble with it either. So you know where I am coming from, I have had digestion & assimilation problems for 50 years. I am 6 feet tall and a few times I went down to 112-114 lbs. So my interest in enzymes and my attitudes and beliefs are not merely theoretical. (I can feel the difference in a good enzyme.) I have been in a serious assimilation crisis for about a year. The last few months the worst. In the past few weeks I have eaten single foods, taken the finest enzymes in large doses and still not digested or assimilated much from it. So, I know what you're living with. I started alergy injections on Tuesday because allergies throw the stomach meridian out on both sides, which in itself can interrupt digestion. But, as it happens, on Tuesday I also received my first shipment of HGH secretagogues. I found a new sublingual one that is reasonably priced. Less than 1/10 of a substance is usually assimilated when taken orally, so maybe just being able to use smaller doses than the oral types makes it cheaper. Anyway, I took two of the three daily doses the first day, and the next morning I woke up feeling GREAT for the first time in months. Then, I got high from breakfast because I assimilated so much from it. I did well with my later meals also. Today is the following day and I assimilated breakfast again today. My girlfriend took two doses yesterday and woke up feeling great today also, which isn't usual for her either since she has allergies so bad she has asthma. Normally, she can't stand the idea of eating in the morning, but this morning we both had an appetite and she enjoyed a normal breakfast too. My biggest problem lately has been a terrible dehydration. I'm drinking at least 3 liters of distilled water a day with Flanagan Microclusters. My weight has been hovering about 124-125 pounds, well below my normal. My lips drying out is the first sign I get of something dehydrating me, so I have a very finely tuned and sensitive sensing mechanism in re digestion & dehydration. I can drink raw organic vegetable & fruit juices with additional enzymes and not need water. But if I eat anything cooked I need to take enzymes & drink at least a pint of water. I have had less trouble with this for the last two days also. Since it is only two days, I have no idea if this effect will last and continue improving my situation. But, so far I have high hopes for this HGH secretagogue, since direct side effects of increased HGH are an increased thyroid, and therefore, increased pancreatic activity AND re-hydration. As I said, one of the upstream causes of poor digestion and malassimilation is a sluggish thyroid. And an upstream cause of a sluggish thyroid is diminished HGH. That is why I was interested in trying the secretagogue. If you are having trouble digesting food I suggest you try some to see what it does for you -- IF it continues helping me this way. I will make a post again in a few days if I continue getting this benefit from the secretagogue. (Boy do I wish I could afford the injections!) Then, there are also all of the other benefits of more HGH in your body. Most oral secretagogues I have seen cost about $90 a month. But then I found the one I bought for about $29 delivered by buying three a month. (buy 2 get 1 free) Singly they are $39 + $5 shipping. Here is the URL I found for them: http://www.emptechno.com/secrt3x3.htm I try to avoid selling things, but I'll sell singles, when I have extras, for $37 w/shipping included to anyone interested. jim -- jim@... http://www.entrance.to/madscience http://www.entrance.to/poetry amicus certus in re incerta
Guest guest
Jim, thanks so much for all this info. I have had thyroid tests that all tell to be in the normal range, but I do get very cold frequently. Yes I do have tenderness where you mention. 50 years is a long time! I am only 31 now. Is there no cure for this condition? What about Thyroid supplements? my weight goes up & down all the time, sometimes way down. I am not sure what you mean by 'assimilation', how does that differ from digestion? I too have severe allergies and sometimes get asthma from them. I also get very dehydrated, my lips dry out all the time, I have to carry lip balm with me at all times. Sometimes in the morning my upper lip is cracked at the center. These symptoms have been very mysterious to me. I would be interested in any good information sources you could recommend, also in buying a single bottle of secretagogue if you have one around. Thanks, :-) Jim Lambert wrote: > From: Jim Lambert <jlambert@...> > > > From: Jules <jules@...> > > > > Just to clarify, I do take papaya enzymes, I take them as part of my parasite cleansing. Guest guest
Hi Laurie, If the enzymes you are taking have protease in them you might not want to do them in high doses as protease digests protein and can be irritating to the stomach. Short term as a experiment, it might be okay but I wouldn't do it long term. That is why I ordered the amylase. It digests carbs and so it isn't irritating to flesh. Let us know if it works for you. Guest guest
Hi Elsol, Amylase is a digestive enzyme that digest carbohydrates. I do not know why it also works for airborne allergens. I have not taken it yet. I just ordered it today. What I took was a general digestive enzyme with amylase and other enzymes in it also. But it worked. I just thought it would be good to take just plain amylase as the other enzymes I have, have protease in them and if you take too much it can irritate the tissues of the stomach. And so if I want to take high doses, I might have a problem in time, so I ordered the amylase so I can take the dose I need to keep the allergies at bay and not irritate my stomach. I ordered it from R garden. I don't know if anyone else has amylase alone. Someone else said they looked on the net and didn't see any. I called the local health shop today and they didn't have any and hadn't heard of any. So I called R garden and ordered it. Usually I order their stuff in large quantitiy and get 40% discount. But since I have not actually used the amylase yet I just ordered one. It cost $20 plus I think $4 for postage. If it works as well as the quadra zyme, then I will order 12 and can then offer it to people for $16. Or people can sign up with them for $5 and buy in quantitiy themselves, for them and their family and friends. But, a general enzyme product from your local health food store might work too, I am just being cautious because I have had stomach pain before when doing too much protease and so I am going to try the amylase. That is why they bottle it seperately. And I am assuming it will be more cost effective because I should be able to take less and get better results since it is pure amylase and not diluted with other enzymes like lipase, cellulase, etc. Hope that is more clear. Also, you asked me privately about coral calcium and I have tried to respond to you privately several times and it always comes back undeliverable. Can you e mail me privately again and I will try again. Thanks, Donna Re: Enzymes What is amylase? How much do you take? Where do you get it? How much did you take and how soon did the allergies go away?
Guest guest
Hi Donna, Where are you ordering your Amylase from? and yes mine do contain protease, and I don't eat much animal protein, lots of plant protein.
