In Dominie’s

recent newsletter she talks about the outrageous article questioning the

validity of fibromyalgia.

Drug Approved.

Is Disease Real?

By ALEX

BERENSON,

(link:

http://www.nytimes.com/2008/01/14/health/14pain.html)

This article is

pathetic for many reasons. Just when the fibromyalgia community is taking

a sigh of relief and feeling some validation, we take such a huge blow.

As if it isn’t bad enough to have FMS slammed in the press, we have to

read about a pioneer FMS researcher turning on us and totally discrediting

fibro as being real.

If anyone cares

to write to the NY Times to let them know your opinion of their article, you

can respond in several ways… you can email the writer directly, or use

their general feedback methods. Details of how to do each option is

described below.

I suggest we

give them some feedback! We should try to remain composed – if we

come off as a bunch of lunatics ranting and raving, that will not make us look

credible. Be as professional as possible, state facts as you know them,

and let them know how disappointing this is. If you have had success with

Lyrica, let them know that too!

This is where

advocating for Fibromyalgia is important – and you CAN make a difference!

Thanks, Shari for all this detailed info. My local Fibro support

group in Chicago sent an email to all our membership asking everyone

to respond directly to Berenson and to the NYTimes.
